Huge shoutout to @IsaiahTaveras for putting this together. You definitely need to follow him!
Every shooting drill should have a purpose.
These 3 drills don’t just help you make more shots, they help build the mechanics that lead to consistent shooting over time.
🏀 1. Chair Form Shooting
Sitting takes your legs out of the shot, forcing your upper body to do the work. It’s a great way to develop touch and improve your arc. Ideally, your shot should have an arc between 45° and 50°, giving the ball a larger margin for error when it reaches the rim.
🏀 2. Shoot Over the Backboard
Stand behind the backboard and shoot over it. This teaches your shooting arm to move up first, then out, instead of pushing the ball forward. The result is better arc and cleaner mechanics.
🏀 3. Baseline Shooting
Shoot from the baseline and pay attention to your misses. If you’re hitting the backboard or the front of the rim from that angle, your shot is drifting left or right. A clean make from the baseline tells you your shot is staying on line.
These are the same types of purposeful drills I build into my 30-Day Solo Hooper Blueprint. Every workout has a reason behind it, so you’re not just getting shots up, you’re improving the skills that actually transfer to games.
