For 250 years, America has been shaped by dreamers, doers and innovators, and the people of TVA have carried that spirit forward by building, powering and serving the Tennessee Valley for 93 years.
As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, we remain committed to serving the Valley and helping build an even stronger future for generations to come. 🇺🇸⚡

Before there was a system of dams across the Tennessee Valley, there was Norris.
Dedicated on July 28, 1936, Norris Dam was the first dam built by TVA. Built “for the people of the United States,” it has spent the past 90 years helping reduce flood risk, generate clean, reliable hydropower, improve water quality and provide recreation for millions of people.🇺🇸
Today, Norris Dam continues to do what it was built to do: serve the people of the Tennessee Valley.
Happy 90th Anniversary, Norris Dam. ⚡
The forecast? Hot. 🌡️
Our focus? Keeping you 🆒.
Another stretch of summer heat is on the way, and we are ready.
Senior Meteorologist and Load Forecaster Nick Austin is tracking the weather forecast and electricity demand as temperatures climb. The work to meet summer demand didn't start this week, it started months ago. Throughout the spring, our teams prepared generating plants across the region so we're ready when you need us most!
☀️ Summertime in the Valley is truly one of a kind! 🛥️
Our mission is to make our region the best place to live, work, and play—and nothing showcases that better than this photo. Unforgettable summer memories are made on our lakes and rivers, powered by a generation fleet that keeps you cool, charged, and ready for adventure all season long. 🇺🇸
We have signed the Trump Administration’s Ratepayer Protection Pledge, strengthening our commitment to keep energy affordable and reliable for the 10 million people we serve across seven states.
With some of the lowest electric rates in the region, we’re working to make sure costs stay manageable as demand grows.
We are exploring updating our rate structure for large power users, including fast-growing industries like AI, to help protect residential customers from cost impacts.
Proposed updates will go to the Board for consideration in August as we continue putting customers first.

👀 We get this question every time…
No, this isn’t our TVA.
⚡ We generate electricity, manage the Tennessee River and serve nearly 10 million people.
⏳ They protect the timeline.
😉 Different mission. Same initials.
Timeline complaints should be directed to @MarvelStudios.
Electricity demand across the Tennessee Valley continues to grow, and generating facilities like the Johnsonville Combustion Turbine Plant help ensure reliable electricity is available when it’s needed most!
Located on 720 acres near the Tennessee River in New Johnsonville, TN, the facility can generate enough electricity to serve more than 700,000 homes. 🏡
In 2025, we added 10 new fast-start combustion turbines that can be online in minutes, giving grid operators another tool to respond quickly when demand increases. ⚡
A fishing location almost Chatu-good to be true! 🎣
At the tail of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the North Carolina-Georgia line sits Chatuge Lake, home to dozens of fish species for anglers of all skills, and a local economy built around fishing and recreation!
In partnership with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, we’re starting a project to benefit 30 fish species in Chatuge, including buffalo, drum, shad, shiner, sunfish, and walleye. Crews and volunteers planted 1,600 water willows and buttonbush in shady coves to create natural habitats in the waters, creating a perfect spot to catch largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie.

Can you guess what this part is? ⚡
This is a "Fishbowl" Bushing, known for its signature glass-domed tops, allowing insulating oil to expand and contract—helping it withstand wear over time. When our team at Belfast Transmission spotted one due for maintenance, they sprang into action: removing, cleaning, and drying this crucial element to restore performance. Refurbishing this component reduces downtime, lowers costs, and extends the life of vital infrastructure.
