Boom! The final 1,000' stack that once served the retired Widows Creek Fossil Plant near Stevenson, AL, was safely imploded earlier today. The removal of the old plant, which was idled in 2014, is about 90% complete. The site is being prepared for future economic redevelopment.
Our high-voltage transmission system is the second-largest in the nation. On a system that big, it takes a team of highly-trained employees to reduce interruptions, repair damage, and keep the power flowing - achieving 99.999% reliability every year since 2000! #ReliabiltyMatters
The @TVAnews Gallatin Fossil Plant team recently partnered up with Operation Stand Down to help fill a couple needs in their area. They collected supplies for Thanksgiving meals as well as some needed cleaning supplies and footballs to burn off those turkey day calories!

Proud of the @TVAnews team at Gallatin Fossil who stepped in to help @SumnerAcademy provide covered space for students to social distance while at school. The crew at GAF donated an outdoor tent that has been used extensively since its delivery! Great work, team!
At the beginning of October, the crew at Cumberland Fossil Plant found an injured hawk and flew into action to bring it to safety! Our crew brought it to Paris Landing State Park Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, and we have some great news. The Hawk is now healthy and free! 🦅
This is spooky! Construction crews working at the Norris Labs unearthed an abandoned concrete tunnel - probably dating back to the 1930s. We sent a drone down into the dark passage filled with spider webs and creepy crawlies to investigate. Hopefully, there are no mummies! 👻🕷️
Since the start of the pandemic, we have helped create or retain more than 18,300 Valley jobs through at least 75 new projects! Manufactures, retailers, and wholesalers are hinging upon a strong balance sheet and continued reduction of carbon emissions. https://t.co/tnUd9Rc4Nc
From October 2019 to September 2020, the Tenn. River basin received 75.74 inches of rainfall, 150% of normal. That's the wettest 12 month period ever by about 2.8 inches (Oct. 2019 - Sept. 2020). And for the first time, we've seen 12 consecutive months of above-normal rainfall.
It's rained a lot! In fact, 2020 may end up being the wettest year in 131 years of record-keeping for the Tennessee Valley! With all that water, have you ever wondered how we manage and operate the Tennessee River system?

The River Forecast Center is monitoring Hurricane Sally and the potential for heavy rainfall. Expect Tenn. River reservoirs to be lowered this week. Tributary lakes will be used to store water if needed. We are keeping a close eye on more tropical weather forming in the Atlantic.
Thanks to @MidTnElectric for a couple photos of their crews preparing to head to assist @beauelectricoop in their storm restoration. You embody the co-op spirit and make Tennessee proud! Safe travels!
It was great to join @RepJohnRose and @allen_foster to present @tcatcrossville a check for $7,000 to purchase two new welders. Together we're helping provide skilled labor to valley industries.
