Thursdays on CBS are a double feature of mystery, comedy & touching moments.
#Matlock has nothing to do with the old series but #KathyBates is great. She's sly & sharp & humane.
#Elsbeth is a female #Columbo, a quirky oddball who's dismissed by murderous sophisticates she catches.
#LaBrea is goofy fun, sort of #Lost meets #TheLostWorld. Though nowhere near as good as #Lost. It has none of the depth of character of Lost. But it may grow into its premise.
Will there be #Neanderthals? #Denisovans? A Smoke Monster?
Kevin & Madison make a surprisingly touching pair on #ThisIsUs.
Rebecca's descent into dementia is heart-breaking.
Randall should stop obsessing over his childhood & concentrate on his clearly bright future in politics.
Kate seems stuck in the past too & should enjoy her present.
#Poldark was wrapped up well after 4 seasons.
I'm ready for a flash-forward 20-25 years to Poldark the Next Generation to see all the adventures of Ross and Demelza's kids.
#StarTrekDiscovery had a very good season. Its first season was very rocky, the 2nd improved and the 3rd shone.
Besides Michael and Tilly the other star of the show has been Saru as he balanced being captain while dealing with his past.
#ThisIsUs introduced a bevy of new characters in the season premiere.
And the show is flashing forward in time now as well as backward.
It's a lot to juggle & not every character gets equal focus but it all works & Rebecca's increasing dementia provides a real emotional punch.
#TheWalkingDead is having a great year
The time jump has proved intriguing.
A new society is forming and the Alpha/Carol duel is riveting though killing Henry to fuel the plot seems like a waste.
Daryl & Carol's long-simmering bond adds interest.
With Elizabeth becoming president #MadamSecretary is basically giving us a fantasy version of what a #HillaryClinton presidency might've been like.
The impeachment story is like a funhouse mirror of real events with a fictional innocent president instead of a real-life guilty one
#TheOrville is resolving its tonal problems.
#StarTrekDiscovery is greatly improved in its 2nd season.
It feels like #StarTrek now even though there's some discontinuity with the rest of #Trek like the #Klingons' odd appearance & the ship being more advanced than the #Enterprise.
#Veep has been hilarious, deftly weaving satire of current events with Selina colluding with the Chinese to win the presidency, with flat-out farce.
It's a shame the show is ending. Real life politics is both absurd & maddening now.
It's refreshing to laugh at fictional politics.
#GameOfThrones final season is plotted like one long epic movie.
1st 2 eps were the first act setting up the stakes for the characters.
Ep 3, the #BattleOfWinterfell, was like a (dimly lighted) inciting incident, the thing that sets the events in motion for the rest of the story
