how to research; properly.
most people “google and scroll.” real researchers hunt, map, and build.
here’s the generalized approach that actually works; in any field:
1. start with a question, not a topic.
“how can we make small drones navigate indoors?” is better than “indoor drones.” questions focus your search; topics scatter it.
2. map the landscape.
read abstracts, skim tables of contents, note recurring keywords. you’re not reading; you’re building a mental map of what exists and who’s leading it.
3. find the frontier.
where do papers start saying, “future work includes…”? that’s where the frontier lives. that’s your zone of contribution.
4. trace citations backwards and forwards.
go back to find roots, forward to see how ideas evolved. this gives you a timeline of thought; you’ll know what failed, what clicked, and why.
5. cross-pollinate.
bring ideas from other domains. biology into robotics, control theory into economics, AI into chemistry. innovation happens at the boundaries.
6. experiment fast.
don’t over-theorize. test your idea in simulation, on paper, or with code. research is not about knowing, it’s about finding out.
7. document everything.
your notes are gold. write what you learned, what confused you, and what changed your thinking. it’s how you become an actual expert.
research done right isn’t about collecting facts; it’s about building clarity.
and clarity only comes from wrestling with the unknown.
$HYPE has been officially added to $DEFI.ssi — following a review by the SSI Index Committee.
The committee recognized $HYPE’s measurable progress in decentralization and infrastructure - including the launch of HyperEVM L1, validator expansion, and permissionless perps via HIP-3 - meeting the criteria for DeFi sector classification.
This inclusion strengthens $DEFI.ssi’s representation of the evolving DeFi landscape and enhances portfolio balance across market cycles.
