If you are wandering and unsure what to do... you must begin with things that only you can control. Begin then with the body because it is the most directly controllable part of you that cannot be cheated. You can craft clever words to talk your way out of an obligation to friend or family or even to yourself and it may then seem reasonable but you cannot talk your way out of the results of exercise, shared suffering, or discipline. If you lift the weight then you will grow strong. If you do not then you will not. If you run the miles then you will remain lean and fast. If you do not then you will not.
Every other territory a man tries to master be it his strategy, his craft, his political maneuverings allows him to cheat for years before the bill arrives and the Norns weave his earned ruin. The body sends its bill weekly. This is why every serious warrior tradition from the halls where young warriors train to the deep woods where hunters learn silence and to track begins here. Not because the flesh is the most important thing but because it is the most honest and the most reactive to your will. It does not and cannot lie about its strength or its weakness.
There is a reason the greatest philosophers, the greatest warriors, and the greatest builders of civilization all find the same truth through the primal forces of Wyrd or the cosmic web of destiny and Orlog or the primal laws governing action and consequence. Life rewards the man who engages.
For the Norns do not weave a static tapestry but they instead spin the threads of fate based on what a man actually brings to the loom. Sitting still in contemplation does nothing to shape your lineage’s reputation or earn the eyes of the gods. Odin for example constantly wanders, risks, and sacrifices for wisdom and is a force of relentless engagement. A man who hesitates hiding behind endless planning is like stagnant water fading into obscurity without leaving a name for the skalds to sing.
To live like the river is to actively carve your path through the world, meeting your destiny head on. The ancient heathens understood that Mægen or spiritual power and deeds is an active and vital force. It is not accumulated by hoarding thoughts but by taking your decisions into the world like a blade into battle and forcing reality to bend and respond. Your word hoard and your inner thoughts mean nothing if your feorh or life force produces no deeds.
For in the halls of Valhalla or the memory of your kin and tribe a man is measured strictly by the weight of his actions and the legacy or dom that he leaves behind. To read the wisdom of the elders and fail to act is to be a coward forever holding a shield in thought but refusing to step into the shield wall with his brothers. Wisdom is only realized when it is forged into action. Do not allow your thinking to muddy the field. Become a man of action inexorably moving toward something.
On this day in 927 AD, near Eamont in Cumbria, King Æthelstan united the English people and became the first Rex Anglorum.
Prior to this, the land was already called England and the people had been called English for centuries but this was the start of England as a single kingdom 1099 years ago
In June 2026, the Major Oak of Sherwood Forest was declared dead.
For over a thousand years, it stood at the heart of England. It was already growing when the Kingdom of England was founded under King Athelstan in AD 927. It witnessed Viking invasions, the Norman Conquest, the Reformation, the English Civil War, the Industrial Revolution and two world wars. Empires rose and fell, yet the old oak remained.
Now it is gone.
The symbolism is difficult to ignore. Almost like an omen.
Throughout the Bible, great trees are often used to represent kingdoms, nations and peoples. The death of England's most famous oak, a tree almost as old as the nation itself, is more than the loss of an ancient tree. It is an omen that an old England is passing away.
A nation cannot sever itself from its Christian faith, its history and its identity without consequences. Trees remain strong only while their roots are alive.
The Major Oak stood for over a millennium. Its death is a reflection of what is occurring in England. 🏴
Would Germanic Paganism have survived without the works of Christian monks?
Frankly, it did.

Grimm’s Deutsche Mythologie, published in 1835, recounts how he found people worshipping Woden and Frigg in remote regions of Lower Saxony, Hesse, Mecklenburg and Scandinavia.
@naomi_long It is an essential part of British culture that we build effigies of enemies and hate figures and we burn them on bonfires.
Interfering with indigenous folk practices is racist. Don’t like it, then fuck off

Not only does the Poetic Edda, the most revered and authentic source for Heathenry, attest to the divinity of the gods, contradicting the euhemerism of Saxo and Snorri, but so does King Harald Hárfagri when he invoked Odin in an oath saying:
"I swear before that god who made me and rules over all things!"
From Alfred’s shield to Woden’s spear,
The noble strain runs deep and bold;
A sacred truth, untamed by fear,
More radiant than the conqueror’s gold.
Awake, ye Sons of England, wake!
