@JeffreyLuscombe I'm from Toronto, and recognize you as being part of a growing problem: a Neo upper-middle class that is detached from reality.
You are presently among the scariest constituencies alive.
Tucker Carlson said something raw that cuts straight to the heart of marriage:
“A wife who won’t stand by you in turmoil is hell on earth.”
He says the real test of a marriage isn’t the good times — it’s when the husband loses his job, gets attacked, or things go wrong. That’s when you discover what your wife is truly made of.
His blunt truth: the deepest desire of every man is to have his wife standing beside him. A wife who believes in you gives you strength, and that belief is often the key to success in life.
It’s uncomfortable… but it rings true.
Married guys — has a moment of crisis ever shown you exactly what your marriage (and your wife) is made of?
Before Sunrise is unwatchable because it's so good. It's such a beautiful encapsulation of young iPhoneless love, shot on analog film, a nineties time machine of a mysterious Europe that no longer exists, you feel like you are dying as you watch it.
Tucker Carlson just gave men some straight, uncomfortable truth about marriage:
Communication between husband and wife is only about 75% effective because men and women are fundamentally different — and pretending we’re the same is “the biggest lie I ever told.”
He says it’s so easy for a man to dismiss his wife when she gets emotional — to think she’s “crazy,” shut down, and walk away. A lot of men do it. He’s seen it. He’s done it.
But if you keep doing that, you will destroy your marriage.
His advice: As the husband, you have to be the leader in the home. Not a dictator or boss, but the one who stays in the conversation, listens until he truly understands what she’s really saying, and helps make the call when needed.
She wants that from you. If you keep shirking it, she’ll resent you for it.
It’s a hard pill, but it rings true.
Married guys — does this hit home?
@libriscent You don't have choice. You have to go through it and forget them.
I don't have a choice. She's got a man. I've had to move on, otherwise, I'll never have kids. That's not gonna happen.
@sarobertsonca And whose job is it to maintain positive diplomatic relations with our American neighbours? The federal government that takes its directives from the prime minister.
@HustleBitch_ I now realize why a lot of us men are going to get married to far younger women, in our 40s and 50s. It takes time to meet the one with whom you're spiritually aligned. I guess some of us won't settle until we've found the right one, the woman who'll reciprocate that sentiment.
“Avoid people who are full of self-pity, and people who feel like victims. Avoid them like the plague.”
“Avoid the crooks, crazies, egomaniacs, people full of resentment.”
- Charlie Munger
Slowly realizing I'll never get married if I stay here in Canada. Education wise, culturally, spiritually? Hard finding a woman with whom I have anything in common. Feel like a foreigner in my own country.
