Here’s an interesting fact. The most secular generation may not be as secular as it looks. For decades, we have been told religion is declining. In 1991, 12.5% of Canadians said they had no religious affiliation. In 2001 it was 16.5%; 2011, 24%; and in 2021, 34.6% Church attendance as a result plummeted. A growing number of people have renounced their traditional denominational faith. Yet, something unexpected happened. While the data showed a decline among the younger secular generation, something deep within their nature remained unsatisfied. In fact, that unsatisfied longing became stronger. They may not be sitting in pews anymore, but they are still searching and yearning for meaning, purpose, identity—something more than themselves, which raises the uncomfortable question: If religion is dead, why do we keep acting as if we need it?

On October 7, 2023, the Hamas terrorist organization launched the now infamous and barbaric attack on a number of peaceful agricultural settlements in southern Israel. Negotiation with Hamas was a non-starter as their only position is the need to annihilate all Israelis. They are not politically motivated, but as religious extremists, they seek only an outcome in keeping with their interpretation of their religion. Hamas is trying hard to shape a false narrative which stokes antisemitism among Palestinian activists and their sympathizers in the West. What they are promoting is really a call for genocide against Jews worldwide. Let’s examine one PR stunt that Hamas has promoted.

No doubt you have heard of studies and statistics that show our society is being increasingly afflicted with depression and anxiety. This ironically is a problem that is much worse in the wealthy nations of the world than in poorer ones. It is particularly a concern in larger urban areas. Studies show a direct relationship between rates of anxiety and growth of urbanization.

We know we’ll get a lot of pushback for saying this but, what if you were told that evolution cannot explain our existence today? Would that be hard to believe? If it is, then why? There are numerous counterarguments to evolution that render it an impossible and impractical position, yet it is pushed as the answer to how we came to be. But the question must be asked, Why is a theory filled with so many flaws hailed as the explanation of our origin? Think about it! One of the flaws we will examine is described under the term “irreducible complexity.”

For centuries, human progress has been relatively linear. The invention of the wheel, the printing press, and the steam engine was revolutionary for their time and prompted societal shifts. However, these advancements were incremental and occurred over centuries of gradual development, which you could say culminated in Faraday’s Dynamo back in 1831. Then we get to the 20th century, and life changes. Knowledge and the pace of innovation began to accelerate at a rate that was unprecedented. Today the advent of Artificial Intelligence is upon us and a new age of knowledge storage and utilization which seemed fictional at first is now our reality, whether we like it or not? But what does that mean for you and me and what does that mean for the world? Are we truly advancing or setting ourselves up for doomsday?

In September 2025 a world-famous #Canadian professor, Dr. Steven Pinker, appeared before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Research. This renowned cognitive scientist gave parliamentarians a stark warning of the impending erosion of Canada's academic reputation should the present obsession with diversity quotas within Canadian universities be allowed to continue. As Dr. Pinker pointed out before the parliamentary committee, "Diversity mandates as practiced by Canada are eroding basic science and discrediting the academic system."

There is a lot of talk about conspiracies these days. Conspiracy theories can be captivating as they attempt to provide a framework to make sense of ambiguous, confusing, and emotional situations that seemingly defy understanding. They purport to clarify what appears unclear by revealing the hidden “real” truth. However, such conspiracies are not new phenomena linked with our modern modes of communication. A fascinating tale of alleged skullduggery and mayhem from the middle of the last century bears this out.

There are a number of historical accounts and records which support the existence of the Ark that was constructed in order to save one family from a catastrophic global flood. Aside from evidence that was at one time found in the region of southeastern Turkey, historians such as Flavius Josephus and Berossus the Chaldean recorded claims that the Ark was visible during their lifetime. In addition to this, there are fictional accounts, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, that some use to dismiss the account found in Genesis as a myth. However, just because a writer was influenced by an account, this doesn't automatically render it as a myth. Is the story of Genesis just a story? Or should we pay closer attention to the claims that these events actually took place?
