After my arrest Feb 17, 2022 I was put into solitary confinement at the detention center. I called it the dungeon as that’s exactly what it looked and felt like. It was a few days before I was given a pencil or paper. I passed my time praying, working out, meditating and spent two full days cleaning some awful graffiti off the walls in my cell and bunk. I figured if I was going to be there for awhile I needed to make it my own space.

Once that was completed I took my little pencil and wrote out the lyrics to O Canada and drew the Canadian Flag beside it on the inside of my bunk so that every morning when I opened my eyes it was the first thing I saw. It was a reminder of why I was there and what we were fighting for.

Every single day was worth it.
