Drury has certainly been busy, but I’m not convinced this team is better.

I think they’re weaker down the middle and less talented offensively than they were in January. The defense has improved, but that’s about the only area where I see a clear step forward.

I usually lean optimistic, but I can’t shake the feeling that this is just a middle of the pack team as it’s currently constructed.

Well, you can't say the #NYR aren't trying stuff. We'll see how it all turns out, but they feel good about getting themselves into a more competitive spot with what they've done while also accomplishing their goal of getting younger and more skilled. Still hard to see them as a true contender but should be in the mix as a playoff team.

Hate to give up three first-round picks in one offseason but their prospect depth is improving (even if they still need to add high-end forwards). Getting Beaudoin was an especially important part of this to add a young center into the system. He'll be knocking on the door with Šmits, Greentree and others who are likely to begin with AHL Hartford, while Rangers start with a lineup that looks something like...
