Texas A&M Forest Service recently planted 150 drought-hardy loblolly pine seedlings at the future Schulze Seed Orchard in Bastrop County.
These seedlings will help support future reforestation efforts in the Lost Pines following wildfires and support nearby lands.
We raised the Wildland Fire Preparedness Level to Level 3 due to forecasted conditions (high temperatures, low humidity, and dry vegetation) that are contributing to elevated fire risk, along with increased resource commitments for prepositioning.

Fire plays an important role in the health of Texas forests when applied under the right conditions.
