It is official! We received a new USDA grant " Exploring novel fish cultures for small and midscale aquaponic systems" with my two awesome coPI's, Dr Asiabanpour at TXST Engineering Dept and Charlie Shultz at Santa Fe Community College in New Mexico. @TxStateResearch@Txstbiology
.@txstengineering has received an additional $50,000 grant from @NASA to further develop CaerusCrete, a technology concept that uses available resources found on the moon as a building material. #TXST https://t.co/Yryqfrmf9m
#SnakeFungalDisease ๐๐ might seem like a recently emerged threat in N. America but in a new #RDZLab@txstbiology article we found 1955 is the earliest date of detection for #Oo in Texas #Nerodia w/ conservation implications for endemic N. harteri #txst

I'm one of the MARC program awardees. We are bringing to TXST a processing and blocking machine to do paraffin blocks with fixed tissues that can be used for diagnosis and imaging. These machines are available to all the TXST researcher community at our Shared Reseach Operations
Today, we had an amazing presentation by Dr Erika Calvo-Ochoa about neuronal regeneration in the nose of zebrafish. Did you know that fish, but not humans, can regenerate damaged neurons in their brains? #LatinxinSTEM@erikacalvophd@olfactgirl@ZebrafishRock
Join us tomorrow for the Dept of Biology seminar. Dr Calvo-ochoa will speak about her work in neural regeneration using zebrafish model species. @erikacalvophd
We had a great speaker in our Dept of Biology seminar. Dr Nick Smith told us that plants aren't dumb and can optimize their physiology in response to environmental changes.
Congratulations to Stefanie Bergmanson who graduated this last December from Ivan Castro's lab. She won the Texas Society of MammalogistsRobert Packard award.
Join us tomorrow for this week's seminar; our own @LaurenFuess will be sharing some of the work she and the @Symbiommunity lab have been doing at the intersection of symbiosis and immunity!
Great Department of Biology seminar by Dr Gerard Kyle. We learn about modeling strategies used to advance human dimensions research and environmental regulation.
Great presentation from our Spanish visitor, Dr Pablo Burraco, at the TXST biology seminar. We learn about new approaches in aging studies in amphians by studying telomerase dynamics and changes in oxidative stress. It was fascinating! @pabloburraco
This Friday, our seminar speaker comes from Spain to talk about telomerase dinamics under oxidative stress. Come to learn how changes in the environment affect our populations of amphibians.
Congrats to #RDZLab undergrad Gisselle Lopez for participating in the COSE Aspiring Sophomores Participating in Research Experiences (ASPIRE) Program at #TXST and thanks to our amazing Dean Hailey and AD for Research Paula Williamson for their support! #LatinxPI#txst#txstbio
