The Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) coordinates local government fire mutual aid response throughout Texas and to other states on request.
And with the fire behavior experienced today, another Strike Team of wildland engines is headed to Northwest Texas tonight to be ready to assist tomorrow morning.
As critical weather conditions that increase the chance of wildfires return to West and North Texas, TIFMAS resources are prepositioning to help reduce the impact of potential fires. Two Strike Teams of wildfire engines are already in place while four more Strike Teams are
traveling this morning. Prepositioning is an important strategy to place resources closer to predicted areas of need so they can arrive in scenes more quickly to attempt to bring wildfires under control before they get too large.
