@LoewyLawFirm@leachfortexas The ecumenical abstention doctrine has become a church immunity doctrine. Lots of people have been denied justice over its ever expanding net. Funny to see Chair Leach Pearl-clutching over the system he’s nurtured.
@sbellsnyder @CognitaVagabond @LoewyLawFirm In fairness, as a newspaper reporter, can you list the top recipients of TLR money over the last 10 years now?
@pactconsumers@lawsuitreform@WSJ The op-ed literally says Texas is not one of the top 10 that account for 75% of all nuclear verdicts. 2nd biggest state. Not even top 10 worst.
Why is the Texas House looking to shield companies that hire illegal aliens and others unable to read and speak English?!
Donald Trump has issued an Executive Order requiring all truck drivers to speak and read English, yet proposed @lawsuitreform law by @leachfortexas bans that info from being used in lawsuits against trucking companies. Only time it could be mentioned is if the lack of English skills “caused” the wreck (which is a vanishly rare occurance).
@TexasSenateGOP Also seems that every Republican in the senate voted to eliminate "disfigurement", ie scars to face or burns & "physical impairment" (losing a foot to a drunk semi driver) from the current jury form. Now scars & limbs = mental anguish only. See page 6 pf SB30, engrossed.
TLR (@lawsuitreform) is trying to eliminate physical disfigurement as a damage element
This means if you lose your leg in an 18 wheeler wreck, you cannot seek compensation
Patriots in the Lege must reject this garbage
Listen to this vet’s story 👇🏼
#txlege#HB4806#SB30
This is yet another lie from TLR
HB 4806 expressly caps how much someone can recover from an 18 wheeler company in this exact scenario
TLR’s main goal is to stop all lawsuits against 18 wheeler companies in Texas.
