2nd poll...
Should the site charge
1. just coaches to access the open dates board & Directory
2. charge everyone for the entire site
3. Charge one fee for coaches to access entire site & different fee for public to access everything except the open dates & directory
I would like to hear everyone's thoughts on a possible fee increase for the website. The idea started in 2002 when this began as an email chain that coaches used to help each other fill our schedules that I would send out every morning before my bus route.
In the following 24 years, this has evolved into the current Texas Prep Softball website, which still helps coaches fill schedules as the main purpose, to where now we have directories, schedules, records, standings, brackets, etc. We have also been recognized as the closest to our own sport specific softball coaches association, and with that, I have had the utmost honor to be a representative of yours at statewide meetings, especially with the UIL and THSCA.
Until 2018, I paid for expenses out of my own pocket until I retired from public schools planning to retire from this too. Coaches asked me to continue our service and website and offered to start paying a yearly subscription fee anywhere from $10-50. I agreed to the $10 to help with expenses and time.
Some out there think the subscription is for the entire site, but it's only for the open dates and coaches directory and I try to limit access there to coaches only. The rest of the site is there for everyone to access for free. There is a debate amongst coaches and myself to charge a website fee for everyone, but make a difference in fees based on access level (coach/public). I will address that later this summer as there is a push to transition the site into our own softball coaches association and have to make sure the lines are clear on what can be charged or not.
Send me your thoughts and I will add a poll in the next few minutes.
As we begin the summer, coaches please don't forget that the double first base is mandatory for the 2027 season. This is an UIL state adoption that supersedes the NFHS rule book.
Also make sure soon if you are hosting a tournament on city, county, private, etc. facilities, that they also have the double first base. I know we are already making sure that all of the Bryan/College Station area complexes that we use for the @leadoffclassic have them ready.
UIL sent this out to all coaches before the season and will post reminders on the website soon.
I've already transferred this year's standings to pdf format to put in archives sections of the website. And I have input the new 2027-28 softball districts for 6A.
I haven't deleted this year's scores yet, so the standing currently there are the new districts with the 2026 records..
if you're curious, you can check them out before I pull scores from this year's sheets

What an awesome weekend of @uiltexas state championship softball in Austin! Each year the UIL staff raises the bar of excellence and each year the tournament meets and exceeds that bar as the experience in Austin gets better and better every year.
This was my 31st state tournament to attend and the progress of our sport is amazing and I so honored that the coaches let be a part of it and help them during the past 22 years.
It was also good to spend quality time all weekend speaking to softball advisory/committee members from the @THSCAcoaches and @AustinTGCA while also having great visits with Glen West, Libby Pacheco, Sam Tipton, and Lee Grisham. I also appreciated the time getting to visit with Ray Zepeda and Grace McDowell in the meetings and at the stadium. Our sport is in great hands with all of these leaders and I hope to be able to continue my work helping all of coaches as well.
Thanks again for another awesome weekend of softball!!
