Pi Network hikes Pi App Studio fees

Pi Network (@PiCoreTeam) is substantially increasing the costs of developing applications on the Pi App Studio, charging a new fee of 30.30 $PI for app creation and 2.5 $PI for editing.

This increase in operational costs aims to improve the quality of the Pi app ecosystem by discouraging the development of low-quality or AI-generated apps.

Pi is back above $1B Market cap

After weeks in the red, @PiCoreTeam's $PI token is back above the $1 billion market cap mark.

While this marks a monumental period for the asset, the surge has been modest.

Crypto assets have posted double-digit gains in the past 24 hours, but $PI is just nearly 6% up over the past week. Additionally, the asset is still down over 50% since the start of 2026.

Still, the market cap update is positive news for pioneers.

Following the successful completion of the Protocol 26 upgrade on Pi Mainnet, Pi Testnet is upgrading to Protocol 27!

Protocol 27 introduces more flexible and secure smart contract authentication capabilities, enabling more advanced ways for accounts and applications to authorize transactions. The upgrade continues Pi’s broader work to incorporate newer protocol features and expand the network’s smart contract capabilities.

The target date for the Mainnet upgrade to 27 is September 15, 2026.

@PayPal has revamped its official developer ecosystem by adding support for Pi Network ($PI) through its 'Pay with Crypto' checkout program.

The revision, finalized on August 11, 2026, adds $PI to the whitelist of about 100 crypto assets that can be used in transactions.

This will enable customers worldwide to pay with $PI at verified U.S. Business merchants, using PayPal to convert the crypto asset to fiat in real time.
