People love bringing up his age when the facts are laid out and when his performance is subpar. But will still try to include him in conversations that he’s not supposed to be in yet, since he doesn’t have the accolades. They call him the greatest player in the world and he hasn’t got the accolades to back that up. The World Cup is the pinnacle of football and his performance has been underwhelming judging by the criteria people have set. If you include him in conversations with Haaland, Mbappe,etc. and you call him the best in the world, then don’t get defensive when the facts are laid out before you. If you like his dribbling and playmaking, that’s fine put him in conversations with Desire Doue, or Michael Olise, you wanna talk about how fast he is, put him in a conversation with other fast players. But if you’re going to put him in a conversation with players that have a high g/a, then he will be expected to have a high g/a or he has to stay out of those conversations until he gets there. Yes, he’s 19, yes he’s recovering from an injury. But he’s still taking shots and missing, he’s still well enough to play the full 90 minutes. And 19 year old Mbappe’s performance at his 1st World Cup is miles ahead of Yamal’s. So you can’t move the goalposts for him and put him on this pedestal of potential that he hasn’t reached yet. Because then you have this high expectation in your mind and then he gets blamed by haters for not delivering & then his fans will just make excuses. He’s a phenomenal player but he made his bed with his words and now he’s gonna have to lie in it.
