The Government of Nova Scotia just announced it has accepted recommendations to raise the minimum wage to $15 by April 2024. That's good news. But it's not the most important part of the decision.

If you dig into it, this is actually a really progressive idea. It acknowledges that minimum wage work is important and contributes to the economy. But it’s acknowledging that not with some dumb platitudes about “frontline heroes” but with actual money in those workers’ pockets.
