Bystanders In Nairobi reportedly stepped in to protect a group of tourists after noticing six young boys wearing balaclavas allegedly following them.

Kenya International Taekwondo Federation Secretary General Timothy Mburu has died following a road accident.

Mburu was reportedly riding home to Mai Mahiu on Wednesday night when a PSV vehicle knocked him off the road at Longonot along the Mai Mahiu–Naivasha road.

WE MISS KIBAKI.

Not because Mwai Kibaki was perfect.

He wasn't.

But because there was a time when a President could speak about corruption and make it clear that stealing public money was not government policy.

On November 2, 2010, Kibaki reportedly told an infrastructure meeting in Nairobi that those plotting to misuse public funds should not be allowed to continue working in government.

His message was blunt: public money belongs to the public, and those who seek to steal it have no place in government.

Go back further.

In December 2002, during his inauguration, Kibaki told Kenyans that corruption would no longer be a way of life and warned public officials that there would be "no sacred cows" under his government.

Those were fighting words.

But at least the fight was against corruption.

Today, Kenyans hear fighting words too.

The difference is that Kenyans are looking around and asking a much more uncomfortable question:

Where did the war on corruption go?

Because corruption has not disappeared.

It has become bigger, more sophisticated and, in the eyes of many Kenyans, increasingly normalised.

The ordinary Kenyan is paying more taxes, struggling with the cost of living and watching public resources disappear into scandals while leaders lecture them about sacrifice.

That is why many Kenyans look back at Kibaki and say:

WE MISS THE MAN.

We miss the seriousness.

We miss the restraint.

We miss a President who understood that public office is a responsibility, not a personal marketplace.

Kibaki had his failures. History should judge them honestly.

But he left behind something increasingly rare in Kenyan politics:

The idea that government should be about building a country, not enriching a political class.

Today, Kenyans don't need more thunderous speeches about corruption.

They need accountability.

They need consequences.

They need institutions that work.

They need public money protected.

They need leaders who understand one simple principle:

Kenya does not belong to the people in State House. State House belongs to the people of Kenya.

That is why we miss Kibaki.

Not because the past was perfect.

But because the present has made us appreciate what we once took for granted.

We can confirm, Kenya ISPs have started seeing bad things from Starlink.

Starlink is coming for Kenya’s small ISPs. The people who bought a home Starlink, put Wi-Fi on it, and sold internet to an estate, shops, or a village.

Now, accounts are getting restricted. Some are being pushed to expensive enterprise plans. Others say their “unlimited” data is suddenly slow.

Starlink sold that kit for home use. In Kenya, people used it as cheap last-mile internet because fibre is late, and a home plan costs about KES 6,500.

That worked until the network got crowded.

About 25,000 Kenyans are already on Starlink. New home sign-ups are frozen in seven counties. Speeds dropped in busy areas. ID checks already cut unverified accounts. Heavy shared use is next.

If you use Starlink at home, you may be fine. If you sell internet on a home plan, Starlink is starting to notice.

UPDATE: KTN NEWS reports that the family of the late former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo has moved to court to begin the formal process of administering his estate several months after his death.
