I always thought I wouldn’t be supporting Argentina after Messi retired but I’m only just now realizing it doesn’t work like that.

I’ve supported them in every tournament since 2010. I’ve learned so many of their songs. The national team has given me so much joy as a football fan.

They’ll always have a place in my heart no matter what. That connection is built for a lifetime.

Scaloni made some very questionable decisions today, and he deserves criticism for them.

But in life, it’s easy to kick someone when they’re down. The fact that Argentina even had a chance to become world champions today is, in large part, because of this man.

Some people don’t even remember the state this national team was in before Lionel Scaloni became Argentina’s head coach. After the 2018 World Cup, nobody could have imagined that this team would go on to reach two World Cup finals in the next two tournaments.

The first major trophy in 28 years. Two Copa América titles. One Finalissima. One World Cup. Two World Cup finals.

That’s life. Things can’t always be perfect.
