Watching old videos of Lionel Messi's goals with Argentina. When he would score, the Argentine commentators would say it was "Messi" who scored but at one point, much later in his career, it became "Leo" that scored. Almost like he was finally accepted. Poetic. ๐ฆ๐ท
People really say they canโt wait to stop supporting Argentina after Messi retires, I donโt think I can do that I spent a portion of my life supporting this team even if it was only coz of Messi but once you are attached to something its really hard to let go off
I always thought I wouldnโt be supporting Argentina after Messi retired but Iโm only just now realizing it doesnโt work like that.
Iโve supported them in every tournament since 2010. Iโve learned so many of their songs. The national team has given me so much joy as a football fan.
Theyโll always have a place in my heart no matter what. That connection is built for a lifetime.
Scaloni made some very questionable decisions today, and he deserves criticism for them.
But in life, itโs easy to kick someone when theyโre down. The fact that Argentina even had a chance to become world champions today is, in large part, because of this man.
Some people donโt even remember the state this national team was in before Lionel Scaloni became Argentinaโs head coach. After the 2018 World Cup, nobody could have imagined that this team would go on to reach two World Cup finals in the next two tournaments.
The first major trophy in 28 years. Two Copa Amรฉrica titles. One Finalissima. One World Cup. Two World Cup finals.
Thatโs life. Things canโt always be perfect.
Thank you for everything, Lionel Scaloni. ๐ฆ๐ทโค๏ธ
