Yesterday we christened the new Quincy ferry “The Abigail Adams” named by students from Atherton Hough! The Marina Bay Ferry is a great way to get into the city and I encourage everyone to take a trip on the Abigail Adams!
Last weekend I joined members of the Cyril P Morrisette Post 294 at the Island of Flags Ceremony. We are very lucky to have so many service members who call Quincy home. It is important that we take time this weekend to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

H335 would ensure that whoever contracts with the broker pays the broker's fee - a simple clarification that would make a big difference for tenants. The bill has been referred to the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure, where it awaits a hearing.

Exciting news: the @MBTA just announced upgrades to the Winthrop/Quincy Ferry including doubling the number of weekday trips and direct Winthrop-to-Boston and Quincy-to-Boston service on weekdays. #QuincyMA
Starting April 18th, weekday service for the Winthrop/Quincy ferry will be separated into two direct routes which will shorten trip times by 30 minutes. Both ferry routes will continue to serve Logan Airport, the Seaport, and Central Wharf/Aquarium.
Thank you MA State Representative @tackeychan for filing two important Massachusetts bills to combat A.I.
HD3986 - An Act Relative to the Contracting of Digital Replicas would require a performer’s informed consent in executing a contract for any transfer of rights of that individual’s likeness or voice. Licenses for voice and likeness rights are sometimes buried within the fine print of contracts or terms of service, and performers may inadvertently grant these rights without knowing the significance. This legislation creates an important additional layer of protection.
HD3987 - An Act Preventing an Individual’s Image and Voice from Exploitation expands on the Commonwealth’s current Right of Publicity law by including likeness and voice to the covered protections and adding post-mortem rights.

Today we refiled An Act to promote equity among lessors, a bill that clarifies who is responsible for paying a broker fee. Our bill clarifies it is the responsibility of the party, whether that is the landlord or the renter, who initially entered into the contract to pay the fee.
Renters are currently required to pay 4 months rent up front when moving - first, last, security deposit, and broker fee. With costs already skyrocketing, this is a huge amount of money.
I'm very excited about the renewed interest in and momentum around this important issue.
