Write253's SUMMER WRITERS program offers free summer writing & art making opportunities for elementary-age youth. In addition to taking field trips to museums throughout Tacoma, participants learned valuable collaborative skills, wrote poems, and yes, made a bunch of slime!
Hilltop Artists celebrates student artwork with their families, inviting them into the hot shop to view their work and learn about the process. Tacoma Creates can now help expand these opportunities in our neighborhoods.

The Tacoma Arts Live Play At Your School program allows kids at Franklin Elementary School to improve their literacy and comprehension skills while having fun! Tacoma Creates will now help to expand access of these programs so they can continue to engage & encourage local youth!
Symphony Tacoma conductor Sarah Ioannides is a zealous supporter of living composers and has conducted over 40 North American, European and world premieres. Tacoma is lucky to have this talent.

Tacoma Little Theatre presented "Second Samuel" in the Amiercan Association of Community Theatre festival. The production competed and won several awards in the Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington region. #tacomacreates
Play to Learn is a free program that encourages adults and children to play together. At over 20 sites across Pierce County, Play to Learn comes and plays in your neighborhood. Tacoma Creates can now support the expansion of these programs to even more neighborhoods in Tacoma.
Glass is the hook that allows Hilltop Artists to connect youth to the mentors and resources they need. On average, a student in Hilltop Artists' After School program receives 211 hours of instruction.

Write253 offers free creative and academic writing workshops throughout the city of Tacoma. Students gained valuable literacy and writing skills and build community through the written and spoken word, preparing them for college and beyond.

Programs outside of the normal "classroom" can make an impact on developing youth by involving them in new and challenging experiences. We are working hard on lots of paperwork and setup so that our youth and our city can directly benefit from Tacoma Creates as soon as possible.
Connection is human trait. Building connection, self discovery and self expression though arts and culture programs in our city is a big part of what Tacoma Creates will help facilitate.
