advice is always presented in a generalized way that completely ignores the job/career aspect of art. And focuses solely on hobby/passion part.

This is such a tired take. I’m so tired of seeing this take. Horrible advice too, one of the worst things I did in my art career was listen to the popular artist’s “likes don’t matter” spiel.

oh man the "drawing for likes" discourse is going around again.. I draw for fun and regardless of how many people like it. my favorite pieces have been the most unpopular, my most disliked being the most popular. I care more about *who* likes my art rather than metrics alone.
