Congratulations to Landon Schafer and Orfine Ntole! Both students recently received an award from Quota International of Cedar Rapids. The award recognizes students who have overcome adversity. Quota is CR organization that has helped local residents for over 80 years.

The combined Taft 8th Grade Band and Jefferson Wind Ensemble performing our winter concert at Jefferson.

Whichever grade brings in the most Hy-Vee receipts wins the Hy-Vee Challenge. Every receipt counts as 1 point regardless of the $ amount of the receipt. Students should give the receipts to their Advisory teacher. Hy-Vee will donate 2% of the value of the receipts to Taft.

The Taft Jazz Band got to work with guest clinicians Steve Shanley (Coe College) and Jeff Schafer (Cedar Rapids Prairie). They learned a lot from these jazz experts, but the pizza party was the best part!

8th Grade Band in the Prairie concert hall for the NEIBA Large Group Band Festival. Lots of positive praise from the judges. Both the 7th and 8th grade Taft bands earned the “Superior” rating!

Congratulations to the 8th grade Girls Basketball team! City Champions! Their picture will forever be a part of the city championships display in our cafeteria. Well done, girls!
