Gah. The Stop Co-Governance tour is coming to the Invercargill Workingman's Club Saturday 24 June at 7pm. Time to stop the racist in his tracks, and stop this meeting.
Instead of being angry at Splash Palace for policies they've had for ages that have caused no incidents, how's about we say a MASSIVE big thank you to the team there for proving over many years that they can & do keep us safe in & out of the water!!!
I'd put money on them having a subtle 3 step process of 'excuse me - you ok going in there?', then a 'would you like to use a family room?', then if they still go in, send a staff member to monitor the room. That'd be why what you're afraid of Hasn't. Ever. Happened. So... (2)
Than trans people do.
So... why then is it just assumed that all cis women in a changing room will be a safe person for all kids to be around at all times?!
They're not.
Also while I'm here... It's not just trans people this is hurting & insulting. Yes, I understand, finding out that men have always been able to use the women's changing rooms is a triggering & worrying thing for a survivor to find out. But what about the amazing staff there?! (1)
Because we still have to potentially walk past naked older women. We are far from the only whānau in Aotearoa who live that reality.
This isn't as simple an issue as it is being made out to be. If you do actual research you'll find that women sexually offend at higher rates (3)
I, and other members of my whānau who have been assaulted by women don't feel comfortable or safe using the womens changing rooms. We use the family changing rooms, because seeing a naked older woman is very triggering to us. And no - using a cubicle in the womens won't help (2)
Serious question to the anti trans crowd. Have you forgotten that women are also perpetrators of sexual violence? That seems to have been lost in this whole furore. I'm not just standing up on changing room issues because I'm non binary. I'm also standing up because this: (pt1)
“I never lose”
In what could only be described as a spectacular fail today, watch Posie Parker being forced to eat her words & admit defeat while being escorted away from Albert Park by police this morning.

@patbrittenden @Chewie_nz
@angel_guzzo @NZcivildefence I don't think there is an increase in activity. There is, however, an increase in our ability to detect them, and for news of them to be disseminated. Even only a few years ago we wouldn't be told of large quakes like this that didn't really affect anything.
