Andoni Iraola on Florian Wirtz:
"I'm delighted with Florian"
"In fact, I think yesterday was the first match in which I didn't start him, and that was simply to give him some rest because I didn't think he needed to play"
"His performances over the last three matches have been very good, and I hope this is the beginning of him finding his confidence again"
"We believe in him a great deal. I think he's highly valued, although people tend to judge him in terms of goals and assists"
"That isn't going to be his greatest strength. He's not a number 10 or a second striker who's going to score 15 goals this season"
If he can help us with goals, that's even better. But he gives us a great deal of control over matches, and he's extremely confident on the ball.
"We need to make sure he feels comfortable"
"He's probably felt more comfortable in Champions League matches. In the Premier League, he still needs to get used to the duels. Those battles are difficult to win here, and he's still going through that process of adapting to the competition"
"It's true that he's already been here for a year, but he's still adapting"
"In terms of his talent, I have absolutely no doubts. And I have no doubts about his attitude, either. He's a player who works incredibly hard"
"He probably has body language that can seem a little cold, which doesn't help him. People might think he's not involved or doesn't care, when in reality, now that I know him better, I can see how much he loves football and how much he cares"
"He is involved and committed, but he doesn't communicate that externally in the same way as some other players. Those players might have a body language that makes it easier for supporters to identify with them"
"I think that can work against Florian a little" #LFC
"Two Monsters". Iรฑigo Perez should have been sitting in the right bench at Anfield tonight. Instead, he'll be sitting on the left. Tonight Andoni Iraola's assistant and friend is his opponent. Here's their story, told by those who shared it with them. https://t.co/hhBWdO3zns
Klopp at a kids' press conference:
"Best player you've coached?"
"I managed many great players, but I don't want to decide.
Do you know Robert Lewandowski?"
"Yes!"
"Mo Salah?"
"Yes!"
"Sadio Mane?"
"Yes!"
"Bobby Firmino?"
*silence*
"Then it's him"
@Mobyhaque1 He won't play for us if he comes back. He can't play RB, only CB, and I think he needs to practice his progressive passing a lot as he's mostly been simple and safe (unlike Ndiaye who's a brilliant passer) which isn't enough for us if he did start. Stay on loan.
@KrazieMatt@RoryGreenfield Obviously?! I've repeatedly and vocally said Slow Horses is my favourite show on Apple TV so you're completely wrong there. Lowden is great in it, and he's better suited than other names I've seen for Bond but that's a different kind of role to Bond.
@Jack_Moore7 I'd be more tempted to play Tsimikas when we're facing weaker opposition that defend more, because he passes much better than Kerkez and has a much better cross. But Brighton are top scorers in the league so defending well worries me.
@Jack_Moore7@S6_S20orrr But Craig in layer cake proved he could be suave and charming etc. Besides Hardy is too big of a star already and way too old - they need to him to do a run of films and he's almost 50.
@Jack_Moore7@S6_S20orrr Nah, no he wouldn't - Bond is suave, sophisticated etc. Hardy's characters are always rough around the edges - Bond is smoothness personified.
@Mobyhaque1 Scott is clearly a good player but he's the wrong profile - all our midfielders want to play there. Szoboszlai isn't getting dropped. Camara isn't a pure DM but he's much more coded to the type of midfielder we need who can play that 6 role (and also an 8 if needed).
I feel sorry for Wataru. He's obviously not in Iraola's plans who's rightly giving minutes to youngsters instead. It would've hurt him not to be in Champions League squad and not used at all in league.
Best to find a new club in January and maybe buy Camara to replace him.

Bruno Fernandes calling out Carrick & the #MUFC staff here
"It's a decision from the staff to not press man to man and sometimes leave space behind and try to get the ball, wait for them, but sometimes when you give space to these teams they get confidence.
On whether he is saying Michael Carrick got his tactics wrong:ย "That's on the manager and staff to see, not me. Sometimes you have to be more brave under pressure, take the risk of pressing high and making them uncomfortable. As you saw with them [Como], the centre-back was coming to mark me in my own half. We need to do that as a team but we were unable to.
"A team that plays through the middle with small connections, if you give them too much time and space then they can hurt you out wide."
If this was Rooney, Henry, Aguero, Haaland then I'm pretty certain it would be talked about much more as being one of the best PL goals ever. If not the best. It's an outrageous strike.
Not sure how long Carrick has. When he gets sacked United will try to hire a big name. After an uplift they'll inevitably fail and they'll hire another ex-United guy on a temp contract who'll do well then get a longer contract then fail and rinse and repeat.
