The delegation received a presentation with feedback from the 2023 meeting, and first had data from County health leadership on the state of health and wellness in Laikipia, as well as the work that we have already done in Community health and the Implementation of PCNs.
The team were also briefed on several other healthcare matters for partnership, such as medical research, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Laboratory support, technical support, Disease surveillance, Immunization, and Maternal and Reproductive health among others.
The WHO Country Director confirmed that Laikipia will be a priority for establishing a ‘One Health’ training unit, in which there will be capacity building for better coordination of animal and human health practitioners in managing Antimicrobials in June this year
The Laikipia County Government also received a donation of medical supplies from the WHO to aid ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering of those afflicted by flooding in Likii and Maina villages in Nanyuki and Nyahururu respectively
