@melanji Also on the Ethan round, SEN had already seen the nrg call so a freeze would advantage SEN. If anything the Ethan run around was balancing information which is more fair
@JFreshHockey Penalties still carry over even if a play was offside since they don’t want to encourage dangerous plays if a team thinks an offside call was missed
@PapaStew80@CDonnick1 The Texans had a bunch of JAG with no cap hit expecting to cut them. That is not the same as maneuvering cutting players like Jamal Adams. Especially because the reason they had so many JAGs was because they loaded up on draft capital through trades
@PapaStew80@CDonnick1 I think we just have different views on success. I think a .800 win percentage season is more successful than a wildcard win by a lot and divisions are not made equally. To me this is Ryans best year even if they don’t win the a playoff game because BO1 is inherently fluky
@PapaStew80@CDonnick1 I mean no? He didn’t have to the true tear down year that 95% of rebuilding teams do because of the lovie smith year. He was put in a position with a qb secured already. I’m not saying he’s a bad HC, I’d say he’s in the 4-8 range. I’m saying Mike MacDonald is so great he’s better
@PapaStew80@CDonnick1 The wins are a result of good process but also the different starting points make a massive difference in ceiling not just floor. An older flawed roster is much harder to turn into a contender than a roster which is setup to draft its qb.
@PapaStew80@CDonnick1 When accounting for draft capital, they were similar. The Texans had just been forced into a rebuild because of Watson and had to tear down the roster to the studs and when Ryans inherited the team they were realizing the impacts of that rebuild
@PapaStew80@CDonnick1 I’m saying that process is more important than results for determining who the better coach is especially for 2 younger coaches with small sample sizes. It’d be another thing if we were comparing 2 veteran coaches but it’s 2 coaches who haven’t finished their 2nd and 3rd season
@PapaStew80@CDonnick1 Winning a wildcard round game is the same as a tough regular season game especially when his wins are against the Joe Flacco browns and chargers with a bad oline and Ladd wr1.
Assuming the standings hold Macdonald will have made it just as far this year as Ryans ever has
@PapaStew80@CDonnick1 Head coaches have lots of say in roster decisions especially when it comes with reworking a place of weakness like the OL so attributing it to a gm only is extremely silly.
The talent gap relative to the draft value was never big 2 top 5 picks and SEA talent was mostly aging out
