🌊 Red Sea Fortress: Egypt & Eritrea Lock Out Non-Littoral Ambitions
The geopolitical landscape of the Horn of Africa just witnessed a definitive shift at the Ittihadia Palace. The Cairo summit between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki has erected a formidable legal and diplomatic wall, reshaping maritime governance. 🇪🇬 🇪🇷
🧱 The "Littoral-Only" Doctrine
The core message from Cairo is clear, uncompromising, and legally binding:
🔴 Exclusive Guardianship: The security, stability, and governance of the Red Sea are the exclusive and direct responsibility of its coastal states only. ⚓
🔴 No Foothold for Addas Ababa: This decisive stance effectively blocks and delegitimizes Ethiopia’s maneuvers to establish an unrecognized military or political presence in the maritime corridor. 🛑
🔴 Containing the MOU: The "exclusive responsibility" framework strips regional legitimacy from the controversial memorandum of understanding signed between Ethiopia and the secessionist region of "Somaliland." 📜
🔴 Defending Sovereignty: President El-Sisi’s unwavering commitment to Eritrea’s territorial integrity serves as a stern warning against any attempts by Addis Ababa to secure a sea outlet by force. 🛡️
🤝 Beyond the Sea: Sudan & Bilateral Growth
The strategic alignment extends deep into regional stability and economic partnership:
Shielding Sudan: Both leaders renewed a firm, unified stance backing Sudan's sovereignty, security, and institutional integrity—affirming that Sudan's peace is non-negotiable for Horn of Africa security. 🇸🇩
Economic Horizons: Moving past purely political ties, Cairo and Asmara are translating this strategic alliance into a sustainable partnership focused on trade, investment, and developmental prosperity. 📈
"He who does not cultivate his kingdom cannot reach his hand to harvest the sea." — African Proverb
🗺️ The Bottom Line
Geopolitics in the Red Sea is governed by international law and geography, not unilateral desire. The Cairo alliance cements a powerful reality: non-littoral actors have no jurisdiction over these vital waters. Sovereignty is absolute, and regional stability depends on respecting established borders. 🤝🕊️

@Habtishgreat Haha after thousands of Amhara killed and displaced from the oromia region destroyed many historic buildings to erase the Amhara heritage structure…now u are lecturing about unity ….pp propagandist what a shame
@Habtishgreat You can’t easily convince someone they’re free when they’ve been trained all their life to think like a slave—it becomes their identity.
This isn’t about appearance. It’s about dignity.
Accept me as I am, or don’t. I won’t change to fit your expectations….that’s the message.
Tibor Nagy: political maverick with an axe to grind against #Eritrea;
Embassy of the State of Eritrea, Washington, DC; 26 February 2026
*"...The former US Assistant Secretary of State for Africa indeed lacks academic and analytical credentials, and more importantly, personal integrity and honesty as his lop-sided positions and views on the Horn of Africa are often influenced by his lobbying contracts and unorthodox political networks".
*"...In a nutshell, Tibory Nagy digresses to dwell on tangential and distorted narratives primarily and principally because his central objective is to divert attention from the root cause of the current problem: the Ethiopian regime’s willful and deplorable agenda of war and conflict in pursuit of what it calls 'sovereign access to the sea' by invading the sovereign territory of its neighbor. This dangerous act cannot be justified and rationalized by other fallacious pretexts and narratives. Tibor Nagy is not, evidently, in a position to deliver on this account because he is under the beck and call of his financial sponsors; veritable cases, as it were, of 'who pays the piper calls the tune'!"

Potemkin Party officials, hired apologists and minions, have this knack for invoking postulates and arguments that are banal in substance but are, nonetheless, packaged in ostensibly "academic/geopolitical" analysis and garb for purposes of deceptive "credibility".
Latest variants and versions in this saga of incessant public agitation and saber rattling include:
* Delusional arguments on the "imperative for Ethiopia to project naval power to enhance the security of the Red Sea" because, we are told, "the task cannot be fully handled by the littoral States". Leaving unequivocal legal provisions and prevailing robust security configurations aside, the argument is too ludicrous to merit response. It is indeed mind-boggling why a regime notorious for incubating, and that is constantly embroiled in, perpetual internal conflicts of its own making has the temerity to assume an out-sized regional mantle as an "indispensable anchor State" instead of finding enduring panacea to its real and enormous challenges.
* Tenuous arguments, in addition to worn-out references of population size etc., , on exorbitant "transit fees" and purported reduction in its annual GDP growth due to the lack of "sovereign access to the sea". These arguments are often laced with rather explicit corollary/threats that the regime "may indeed unleash war against its neighbour" to rectify these "existential threats". The Potemkin Party's outrageous allusion to "precedence of, and analogy with, Israel's annexation of the Golan Heights" at the last Session of the House of the Peoples Representatives was made in this context principally to mislead its domestic constituencies. Apparently, the myopic and callous PP officials are oblivious to the economic devastation and loss of life that any war of aggression is fraught with when they indulge in, and agitate for. these reckless agendas.
*This is the real backdrop and underlying rationale behind the patently false and fabricated accusations leveled against Eritrea by the PP regime these days. Transparent as they are, the spurious arguments for unleashing war to acquire "sovereign access to the sea" have not, and cannot, find any traction or political endorsement in the wider world. The war agenda must thus be inverted and re-packaged under false premises and pretexts.
🔎🌍 BINGO: Ethiopia’s Regional Entanglements Are Catching Up
When a state exports instability, it eventually imports consequences.
While Ethiopia remains engulfed in unresolved internal conflicts —
🇪🇹 Tigray | Amhara | Oromia —
and while its leadership continues reckless rhetoric toward 🇪🇷 Eritrea,
new evidence points to a dangerous external escalation.
🚨📌 Key Revelation (Reuters Investigation)
🟥 Reuters reports that Ethiopia is allegedly hosting a secret training camp for Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF)
📍 Location: Benishangul-Gumuz, near the 🇸🇩 Sudan border
💰 Funding & logistics allegedly linked to 🇦🇪 UAE sources
👥 Eight sources cited, including a senior Ethiopian government official
⚠️ This represents the first direct evidence of Ethiopian involvement in Sudan’s devastating civil war.
🧠⚖️ Why This Matters (Strategic Assessment):
🔴 Sudan’s war has already displaced millions
🔴 Foreign involvement risks regional spillover
🔴 The Horn of Africa is approaching a security saturation point
If confirmed, this development would mean:
▪️ Ethiopia is simultaneously managing internal fragmentation
▪️ While projecting military influence beyond its borders
▪️ In a region already stretched by conflict, famine, and displacement
🧭📉 Strategic Contradiction:
🟡 A state struggling to stabilize itself
🟡 Engaging in proxy entanglements abroad
🟡 While threatening new fronts, including 🇪🇷 Eritrea
This is not strategic depth —
this is strategic overreach.
💬 “Those who cannot govern peace at home should not gamble with war abroad.”
🌍🕊️ The Bigger Picture:
The Horn of Africa does not need more militarization.
It needs de-escalation, restraint, and responsible statecraft.
Unchecked adventurism — internal or external — only accelerates collapse.

What is the problem with these Potemkin Party charlatans? How can one explain their delusional infatuation with Assab and Eritrea's sovereign coastal areas?
A couple of years ago, the President of the Oromia Region claimed that "Ereccha" will be celebrated on "the shores of the Red Sea" next year! Few days ago, some Army Generals unfurled an outrageous map that incorporates Eritrea's southern coastline! And now, this notorious member of Parliament and rabid advocate of domination pledges that "Christmas" will be celebrated in Assab next year!
Perhaps these political novices are bewitched by their new-found positions of authority: "ሜስ'ሲ ንዘይፈልጦ የጥርጦ"፥ ከም ዝበሃል።
The more apt explanation is the very substance and moral ethos of the Potemkin Party.
And in this respect, the Algebraic Formula needs updating:
Prosperity Party (aka Potemkin Party) signature media trademark is better encapsulated in the following algebraic equation; PP propaganda = Optics + Posturing + Deception + Disinformation + Delusion; (the five variables have different weights depending on the event/intended objective).

🦁 Eritrea: Strategic Calm in a Noisy Neighborhood 🇪🇷
🔴 Eritrea does not react to noise — it moves with strategy.
While Ethiopia’s PM, war-driven generals, and PP cadres amplify reckless rhetoric, Eritrea remains composed, calculated, and forward-looking.
“The lion does not turn when small animals make noise.” 🦁
⚡ What the Provocations Are Actually Doing:
🟢 Strengthening Eritrea’s Strategic Position
🟥 🇪🇬 Egypt
• Quiet but deepening security & economic coordination
• Expansion of Assab Port & multi-sector cooperation underway
🟦 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia
• Growing economic & Red Sea security alignment
• Shared interest in regional stability & trade protection
🟫 🇸🇩 Sudan (SAF)
• Enhanced coordination
• Tangible progress amid Sudan’s existential struggle
➡️ Bottom Line:
The louder the provocations, the more Eritrea’s strategic value and alliances expand.
📉 Why the Noise Has No Bite:
🟥 🇪🇹 Internal Collapse
• Multiple conflicts: Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela
• Army overstretched & losing ground
🟦 Nile Tensions
• Severe diplomatic strain with 🇪🇬 Egypt & 🇸🇩 Sudan
🟥 Sudan Crisis Fallout
• Allegations of involvement with RSF militias
• Trust deficit with neighbors deepening
🟨 Economic Freefall
• Inflation, currency collapse, public despair
🧭 Strategic Reality:
🔹 Eritrea moves quietly, patiently, effectively
🔹 Geography + discipline = leverage
🔹 Stability attracts partners — chaos repels them
“Strength is measured by restraint, not by volume.”
⏳ A storm is clearly forming —
Time will reveal who built foundations… and who built illusions.

Potemkin Party's propaganda machine is on overdrive mode particularly these days to churn out a deluge of disinformation against Eritrea on a daily basis.
The menu/themes broached revolve around the same stale topics: revision of Eritrea's ancient, medieval & modern history to hoodwink public opinion and thereby "legitimize" the regime's illicit agenda of "sovereign access to the sea"; re-packaging of its reckless and adventurist agenda in the mantle of "self-defense"; distortion of Eritrea's normative diplomatic and economic cooperation ties in the wider neighborhood as "conspiracies" against Ethiopia; and disparaging of Eritrea's governance architecture and unparalleled social/national cohesion in its wholesale campaign of demonization... etc.
But while the themes remain the same, the new element in its latest disinformation spree is using official platforms - Foreign Policy Institute; Ethiopian Broadcast Corporation etc. - in lieu of unofficial mouthpieces (Horn Review; notorious lobbyists' and trolls ) that were the principal vehicles in the past.
1. First off, it will be pointless to waste time on mythology and manufactured narratives in as far as Eritrea's ancient, medieval and modern history are concerned. For serious students of history, there is indeed expansive literature based on rigorous archeological findings and interpretations on the Kingdom of Punt (from 1500 - 500 B.C.) that encompassed parts of modern Eritrea, Sudan, Djibouti, and extending toward Egypt); and the Adulis Civilization (300 B.C. - 700 A.D.) which predates and was latter concurrent, with sporadic linkages, to the Axumite Kingdom (300 - 700 A.D.). Historical reading of medieval and modern periods likewise illustrate that Ethiopia's meaningful presence in the Red Sea were confined to the unlawful Federation and Annexation periods that came about through the denial of Eritrea's right to decolonization. As such, there is no historical, legal, security or commercial rationale for its reckless and illicit of agenda of "sovereign access to the sea".
2. In this perspective, the Potemkin Party's new-found ploy to accuse Eritrea of "perennial subversion" stems from its transparent desire to change tack so as to rationalize its war agenda as "an act of self-defense". Indeed, official statements issued on the 25th Anniversary of the Algiers Agreement by the UN, the European Union, and several other countries have unequivocally reiterated the foundational principle of full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations as the normative parameter of international relations. PP's nominal change of tone and tactics is evidently designed to circumvent this explicit and unambivalent position.
3. The Potemkin Party is further feigning annoyance on speculative cooperation and port development agreements that Eritrea "has reportedly" reached with Egypt, Saudi Arabia etc. In the first place, Eritrea's cooperation policies with prospective partners from the region and the wider world are based on cardinal principles of symmetry and mutual interest. And as it is the case with other countries, they stem from, and are predicated on, its own prerogatives and national interest considerations. Eritrea's positive and constructive stance on the cooperation of the littoral States of the Red Sea in order to enhance the safety and security of this important global maritime route is also well-known and in the public domain. As such, it cannot be misconstrued for nefarious political ends.
4. Eritrea has been and remains an oasis of national cohesion, peace and harmony that leverages ethnic and religious diversity as an asset rather than a liability for stoking perpetual tension and conflict among its constituent parts. The Potemkin Party, which is presiding over spiraling internal conflicts due to governance deficit, is not, and cannot be, in a position to disparage Eritrea on these and other accounts.
5. In a nutshell, it is the Potemkin Party's misguided policies that are at the root cause of the manufactured "crisis". As it is, the panacea does not lie in finger pointing at, or scapegoating, Eritrea; but in rectifying its reckless agenda of "sovereign access to the sea".

A top Prosperity Party cadre (Daniel Kibret) is openly spilling the beans on Haile Selassie. In one of his most revealing speeches last week, he talked too much and inadvertently told the world that Haile Selassie was a usurper who did not deserve to rule #Ethiopia. He said:
“Let me mention a well-known figure about whom many songs were written. His name is Ligabaw Beyene. He was Menelik’s trustee, and when Menelik passed away, he gave his word regarding who would succeed him. Later, when Lij Iyasu was removed from power and Ras Teferi rose to prominence, Ligabaw Beyene objected. He refused to accept it and sided with those who opposed Ras Teferi’s ascent to power. As a result, there was significant conflict between him and Ras Teferi. He was punished for his stance, flogged by Ras Teferi, exiled to Koysha, and suffered greatly.”
Good Read - Prosperity Without People: Ethiopia’s Grand Illusion; by Red Sea Beacon (https://t.co/512O7paAJu)
*"...The article titled 'Asmara’s Isolation Doctrine', published on Ethiopia's Institute of Foreign Relations website, presents itself as sober analysis of Eritrea’s political economy and regional posture. In reality, it is an exercise in projection, repackaging Ethiopia’s own insecurity, inflation, and displacement as evidence of motion and success, while recasting Eritrean sovereignty as pathology".
*"...There is something profoundly indecent about lectures on 'prosperity' delivered from a country where inflation consumes wages faster than concrete can be poured, where daily life is structured by fear rather than opportunity, and where armed violence, displacement, and insecurity are routine".
*"... When the PP speaks of 'regional integration', it often implies Eritrean ports without Eritrean sovereignty, Eritrean coastline without Eritrean consent, and Eritrean stability as a shock absorber for Ethiopian dysfunction".

Eritrea’s Exit from IGAD — A Long-Overdue Stand for Integrity 🇪🇷🔥
🌍 Eritrea’s decision to leave IGAD is NOT impulsive — it is the result of years of dysfunction, bias, and failure to uphold the very principles the bloc was created to protect.
When an institution stops serving regional peace and starts enabling violations, walking away becomes a responsibility, not a choice.
🔥 Why IGAD Lost Its Purpose — In Plain Sight:
🟥 Eritrea’s sovereignty was openly and repeatedly threatened by Ethiopia’s PM Abiy — IGAD did nothing.
🟥 Somalia’s territorial integrity was violated through a controversial MOU — IGAD did nothing.
🟥 Drone strikes on civilians in Amhara & Oromia — silence again.
🟥 Sudan is burning in a catastrophic civil war — no effective IGAD action.
🟥 IGAD endorsed a “peace deal” in Amhara that was dead on arrival — exposing its political capture.
The Core Problem: IGAD Became What It Was Meant to Prevent
✅ A politicized platform instead of a neutral regional body
✅ A megaphone for one regime instead of a guardian of regional balance
✅ A spectator to crises instead of a stabilizer
✅ A structure designed to fail — and it did
🟦 Eritrea’s Exit = Strategic Clarity, Not Isolation 🇪🇷✨
• Eritrea refuses to legitimize institutions that reward aggression
• Eritrea values principled diplomacy, not theatre
• Eritrea will engage in regional peace — but not through compromised platforms
“When the house no longer protects you, walking out is not rebellion — it is survival.”
#Eritrea 🇪🇷 #IGAD #HornOfAfrica #RegionalStability #SovereigntyMatters #RedSeaGeopolitics #EastAfrica #TruthToPower #Diplomacy
Domino effect.
If Eritrea walked, why not Djibouti, Somalia, Sudan next?
Let’s stop pretending IGAD works.
Let’s stop legitimizing a compromised organization that protects only Ethiopia's expansionism and war addiction.
Leave Ethiopia alone with it.
Real regional cooperation doesn’t need a dead UAE paid organization as a middleman.
Eritrea 🇪🇷 & Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 — A Strategic Partnership That the Red Sea Cannot Live Without 🌊⚓
🌍 A New Geopolitical Reality Is Emerging in the Red Sea & Horn of Africa
The working visit of President Isaias Afwerki to Saudi Arabia — on the invitation of King Salman — comes at a critical moment. The stakes could not be higher.
🇪🇷🤝🇸🇦 Why Eritrea & Saudi Arabia Are Becoming Indispensable Partners
🔴 Shared Security Interests
✅Sudan 🇸🇩 and Yemen 🇾🇪 — neighbors to both nations — are burning in conflict.
✅If the fire spreads, no one in the region is safe.
✅Doing nothing is not an option; security is now a shared destiny.
🟢 Eritrea’s Unique Strategic Value
⚓ A commanding position over the world’s most critical maritime corridor.
🛡️ Unmatched resilience, stability, and military capability in the Horn.
🌐 A reliable, disciplined partner for real regional security.
🟩 Saudi Arabia’s Key Strengths
💰 Vast economic power.
🏛️ Diplomatic weight across the Middle East, Africa, and global institutions.
🤝 Ability to mobilize regional coalitions for peace & development.
🟦 Why This Partnership Must Accelerate — Now
✅The Red Sea is too important to be left vulnerable.
✅Eritrea & Saudi Arabia have too much to lose if instability deepens.
✅A strategic partnership — security + economics — is not optional. It is urgent.
✅Port of Assab ⚓ stands as a potential cornerstone of long-term cooperation.
Egypt 🇪🇬 also remains a key regional stabilizer with vital Red Sea interests.
🟡 A Human Tragedy We Cannot Ignore
- The suffering in Sudan and Yemen is beyond imagination.
- The region must act before the crisis expands and destroys more nations.
- Eritrea and Saudi Arabia are among the few capable of driving a real solution.
🕊️ Wisdom for the Moment:
“A fire on your neighbor’s roof is not his problem alone — the wind may soon carry it to yours.”
