Will AI-generated relationships bring a new wave of dependency? In my latest blog, I depict a plausible near-future scenario of AI-assisted resurrection; I discuss who might be at risk and what should be done to prevent such a looming crisis. https://t.co/pkxDeh0GPg
@LogicEmotionLab@claire_whiting@affectScience Wow, this is cool. So, the time has come to treat emotion differentiation (or broader, emotion dynamics) as an intervention target. All the best in writing it up, I can't wait to read the pre-print!
@KatyYYTam@minzlicht Cool paper! I especially like the transition from study 1-4 to study 5, which tested switching in magazine reading. Does the mixed results in Study 5 mean that the form of entertainment may matter? Because Netflix is more passive, and reading is more engaging?
@osmond_oss29832 here we are more concerned with emotion regulation variability but not emotion regulation per se. So, what it means is that when one deviates more from the usual pattern of ER, the next moment the person is worse in emotion differentiation.
My first PhD paper on emotion regulation (ER) variability is published in Emotion! https://t.co/ZIu63XAKgX
With this, we ask: Within adolescents, does emotion differentiation (ED) increase ER variability? Knowing what one feels informs ways to adjust ER, right?
@GuevarraDarwin Thanks! It just leads to more questions on emotion (regulation) dynamics, though. Hope that sooner or later we have findings that can better inform us on improving well-being and health.
@PatriciaVuijk @DomMaciejewski Ja inderdaad! Als ik gelijk heb, verbetert mindfulness (dus beter emotion differentiation) de flexibiliteit met emotie-responsstrategieën. Vanuit deze hoek gezien zijn onze resultaten dus behoorlijk verrassend!
@CatarinaNa60336 Thanks for the reply! "Better regulate" may fall under the potential explanation of dampening emotion intensity we bring up later in this thread. Not quite sure what you mean by anticipation and how it relates to regulation though, would you mind elaborate? 🙏
Of course, thanks also to my wonderful co-authors who kindly allowed me to work with their datasets and contributed to the strong discussion in the pre-print: @EeskevanRoekel , @SarahTOBrien , Gillian, and Jolien.
A big thank you to @Verhagen_Maaike , @LoesPouwels , @jmvink73 , and @DomMaciejewski . My supervisors guided me from the conceptualization to writing of this paper. And they were super patient with my long detour of working on the ER variability paper😉
