I recently found out that my friend Maru passed.
We toured together through Japan for years…two drummers, barely speaking the same language, but somehow always understanding each other.

His smile could shift the energy in a room. We shared so many nights…stuffing our faces, drinking too much, watching each other from the side of the stage with nothing but respect and love because he was extremely talented.

Now, visiting/playing in Japan feels different. Emptier. I know I’ll keep looking for him in the crowd, on stage, in the quiet moments before the set.

The last time we said goodbye, something in me knew to hold onto. I hope you rest easy, brother. I’ll carry you with me in every beat and honor your memory. @WaitforSunlight
