Between the year 2019 and 2020, 22,846 cases of common assault by a partner or ex-partner of a spouse were reported. In addition, 14,020 cases of assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm were recorded, while 817 cases of murder by either a partner or ex-partner.
The reality is that there is a war on women’s bodies in our country, and we need to act immediately.

According to police reports, in the year 2020, on average, 58 people are murdered in South Africa every day, and more than 146 sexual offences are committed every day. Women and children are at the highest risk; as financial dependency keeps them trapped in abusive households.
