Our leaders are in New York right now.

They will turn on the tap and water will flow. They will drive on good roads. Traffic lights will work. The streets will be clean. They will use toilets with running water. They will see basic things working without anybody throwing a party.

So when they come back to Ghana, please remember that they have seen what a country can provide for its people.

In fact, they travel too much to say they don’t know.

The bigger problem is us.

After 69 years, we have become so used to struggling that when government gives us something basic, we behave like we have received a gift.

A road is fixed, we clap.

Streetlights come on, we praise somebody.

A community gets water and we say the politician has “done well.”

But whose money paid for it? Ours.

And while we keep celebrating the little things, years of our lives are passing. Our parents are growing old in this system. Our children are being born into it too.

Ghanaian, these things are not luxuries.

You deserve water. You deserve good roads. You deserve working hospitals and decent schools.

Your leaders experience these things when they travel.

You deserve them at home too.

Ghana Must Work. 🇬🇭

Bro, I think we agree on more than we disagree but some of what you’re arguing against isn’t actually what I said 😂.

You said some people support NDC or NPP because they genuinely believe their party can make Ghana work. Of course. I have never said otherwise.

“Put Ghana before your party” does not mean “abandon your party.” It means if you believe NDC can make Ghana work, demand that it works. If you believe NPP can make Ghana work, demand the same from NPP.

Your party can be your preferred vehicle. Ghana is still the destination. That’s all I’m saying.

The same applies to “every conversation shouldn’t end at NDC vs NPP.” Obviously political parties belong in conversations about national development. They govern the country 😂.

My point is that beating the other party cannot become Ghana’s definition of success. If one government provides water to 20 communities and the previous one did 10, we can acknowledge the improvement but if 100 communities need water, the other 80 don’t suddenly stop being thirsty because somebody won the NDC-NPP argument.

That’s why my standard remains Ghana.

Now, you keep using my disagreements with politically aligned people as evidence that @1GhanaMustWork doesn’t welcome politically aligned people.

Those are two completely different things.

Welcoming your political affiliation does not mean I must agree with your political argument. You can challenge me. I can challenge you. NDC supporters can challenge NPP supporters. NPP supporters can challenge NDC supporters.

If @1GhanaMustWork is going to be a room for different Ghanaians, then everybody gets a seat but nobody’s ideas get diplomatic immunity 😂. Mine included.

Your criticism of my tone, however, I hear. If the way I communicate sometimes creates a different impression from what GMW actually stands for, that’s something worth improving.

This part I must correct: “For now I believe GMW is Nana B.”

No, bro.

Ghana Must Work started online. The move from an online movement into a structured organisation is recent. We are literally in the stage of putting those structures in place.

People who have followed that journey already know some members of the team. They’ve heard them speak on our spaces. We have a board, a legal team and other teams being built.

I happen to be the loudest and most visible person right now because our communications structure is still developing. That doesn’t make @1GhanaMustWork Nana B.

In fact, I refuse to take credit for the work other people are doing behind the scenes simply because you see my tweets the most and this is exactly why I still insist on the Space.

Not because I don’t want a written record. Record the space. Keep it. Reference it whenever you want.

I’m asking for a space because some of the questions you’re asking are bigger than one person and bigger than a Twitter reply.

I cannot explain an entire organisation in one thread and more importantly, I shouldn’t speak for everybody.

Ask our legal team about the legal framework and let the people responsible answer.

Ask the people building the platform about how it works, the open ledger, security and the technology behind it.

Ask the relevant team members about organisation, projects and their areas of responsibility.

Challenge them directly.

That’s actually more transparent than me sitting here pretending I personally have every answer.

If after saying “@1GhanaMustWork shouldn’t be Nana B”, we then insist that every question about GMW must be answered by Nana B in Nana B’s replies, we’ve accidentally created the exact problem we’re complaining about 😂.

So let’s have the space. Record the whole thing. Ask everything.

Then people don’t have to take my word for what Ghana Must Work is.

Believe your party can make Ghana work.

Just don’t become so committed to proving your party is better than the other one that you forget to check whether Ghana itself is actually getting better.

That’s what “Ghana first” means to me.
