Big GST relief likely for businesses.
Buyers may no longer lose Input Tax Credit (ITC) if the supplier fails to deposit GST with the government.
Proposal: Once the supplier’s GSTR-2B is generated and the buyer furnishes banking/payment documents, the buyer’s ITC may be protected.
At present, even after paying GST to the supplier, buyers can lose ITC if the supplier defaults on tax payment.
The proposed change is expected to be taken up by the GST Council.
The move will provide major relief to compliant and formally operating businesses by reducing the risk arising from supplier tax defaults. @FinMinIndia@GST_Council@Infosys_GSTN@askGST_GoI@FollowCII@ficci_india@ASSOCHAM4India
Big relief to 34 crores EPFO subscribers
FY26 EPF interest (8.25%) is being auto-processed for the first time through the new centralised IT system.
Over ₹1.44 lakh crore interest to be credited to around 34 crore EPF accounts by July 15, after field verification.
EPFO has completed migration to a single centralised national database, replacing the earlier regional office-wise database system.
Members can now access and get service requests processed from any authorised EPFO office across India, instead of only their home regional office.
Earlier, interest credit typically took until October-November after the rate announcement.
Unified Member Portal to provide a single digital interface for PF balance, claim status, service records, pension details and benefits.
Pre-validation of claims to identify deficiencies before submission, reducing claim rejections and improving first-time acceptance.
Members will now see their eligible withdrawal amount while filing claims and receive alerts if they exceed permissible limits.
Auto-settlement limit increased to ₹5 lakh for fully KYC-compliant advance claims, up from ₹1 lakh earlier.
EPFO to introduce online clarification during claim processing, reducing physical visits and claim rejections.
Centralised payment architecture to ensure claim amounts are credited directly to bank accounts on the day of settlement.
Interest on final PF settlement will now be calculated up to the date of payment authorisation, giving members additional interest.
13 partial withdrawal rules simplified into 3 categories: Essential Needs, Housing Needs and Special Circumstances.
Members can withdraw up to 75% of their PF balance, subject to applicable rules.
Automatic PF transfer on job change for Aadhaar-linked UAN holders, along with automatic transfer of service history.
Members can now seek assistance from any EPFO office in India, instead of only the regional office where their account is maintained.
EPS pensioners can access services and submit Life Certificates at any EPFO office.
Under the Centralised Pension Payment System (CPPS), pension can be credited to any bank account in India, irrespective of the regional office processing the pension. @mansukhmandviya@PMOIndia@ZeeBusiness@officialepfo@epfoaindia

Good News for Semiconductor companies
Finance Ministry’s Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) has cleared around ₹1.25 lakh crore for India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had sought ₹1.5 lakh crore, nearly double the ₹76,000 crore allocated under the first India Semiconductor Mission.
ISM 2.0 will focus on semiconductor equipment manufacturing and full-stack chip design capabilities.
Industry experts estimate India’s semiconductor market could reach $100 billion by 2030.
Despite global economic challenges, the government continues to prioritize investment in strategic and emerging technologies.
The proposal is expected to provide a major boost to India’s semiconductor ecosystem and related companies. @FinMinIndia@nsitharaman@nsitharamanoffc@AshwiniVaishnaw@GoI_MeitY@PMOIndia

Sharmishtha Mukherjee writes how her late Father, former President late Pranab Mukherjee said that @narendramodi was the first directly elected PM in the country…must read !
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of central deputation tenure of Shri Alok Tiwari, IAS (UP:2007), Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, for a further two years.
