Arne Slot brought Liverpool’s 20th title in his first season, and 20 losses in his second.
Grateful for the first, regretful for the second.
Thanks Arne.
🚨🚨 EXCLUSIVE: ARNE SLOT AND LIVERPOOL TO PART WAYS WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. 💣
It’s over between the Dutch manager and Liverpool after end of the season review. 👋🏼
Andoni Iraola, clear favorite to take over as next #LFC head coach.
Will never forget the responsibility Phillips and Williams were thrown when we went into 2020/21 light on in defence, before losing Van Dijk to an ACL.
Won the last 5 games on the run with Williams starting CB, to finish 3rd on 69 points - 9 points and 2 positions better off than this year…
All the best for what comes next Rhys!
From signing as an 9 year old boy, to leaving as a 25 year old man. This club has let me fulfill things that dreams are made of. It’s been an honour to wear this shirt, rub shoulders with legends and play for the greatest set of fans in the world. Thankyou Liverpool, YNWA❤️
Maybe I don’t know all the facts, but I really don’t think this warrants expulsion from the play-offs…
If sporting integrity matters, Man City would be in the third tier, VARrsenal wouldn’t have just won the league and Klopp wins 3 PLs with Liverpool.
But it doesn’t.
BREAKING: Southampton have been expelled from the play-off final 🚨
Middlesbrough have been reinstated for Saturday’s showdown at Wembley against Hull City ⚽️
What I can’t fathom is the damage Slot has done to Liverpool’s fanbase and engagement.
I’ve never seen Liverpool fans so disengaged. Group chats that you usually can’t keep up with are dead silent on a Champions League game day.
Many (myself included) not even watching replays.
Complete indifference
The tide turned overnight - Slot’s position now untenable (faced with turnover squad or manager), but it seems wheels are also in motion.
Alonso was clearly told Liverpool gig is not for him, which is why he’s taken the Chelsea job, and means Liverpool have made a decision (as opposed to leaving the door ajar).
Alonso’s people are clearly briefing, almost threatening, that they are prepared for him to join Chelsea if FSG don’t make a move.
If FSG don’t sack Slot, I doubt it is because they don’t want to, but rather because Alonso is not their man and someone else is in their sights in the same way Klopp was in 2015.
Which I find confounding given the squad by design or chance has invariably been built to suit him…!
@SamMcGuire90@adamrowecomedy@LFC I also fear what this season has done to the Club’s commercials - shirt sales and viewership numbers will have cratered
