A big part is that "poverty breeds poverty". Kids growing up in, let's say, the last 40 years have steadily realized, more so than previous generations, that they want their kids to have a better life than they had, and are not willing to sacrifice that because of some societal norm telling them to "just have kids and figure it out".

If they can't provide the life they want for their child, they feel it's more ethical to not bring a kid into this already fucked up place only to struggle.

We get it, you hate Obama (and I can guess why), but the fact is, his immigration and deportation policies saw the largest number of deportations and enforcement of any President in modern history with a focus on CRIMINAL offenders, and not some blanket "gotta catch em all" heavy handed stumbling. Even if we only compare first terms, he removed almost 700k more than Trump. I can admit Biden wasn't great in this aspect (and many others), but let's be real here.
