I speak out against fatphobia for my own survival, not because I'm a good person. I don't want to live in fear of becoming fat or lose out on the enormous contributions of fat people because of bias. I do what I do because the costs of not challenging this system are too painful.
This song is "Go In Peace" by Sam Baker as heard at a magnificent house concert this weekend with Jami Sieber and Agu ... it nourished my spirit, mind, and body ... so thankful!
Go in peace
Go in kindness
Go in love
Go in faith
Leave the day
The day behind us
Day is done
Go in grace
Let us go into the dark
Not afraid, not alone
Let us hope by some good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home.
Let us hope by some good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home.
@militant_baker Thank you!! The visuals are brilliant (reminds me of your powerful A&F ads). I am so tired of this bullshit ... why is everyone so bothered (threatened) by us? I am fat and beautiful and take up space and own it and those that have a problem with it can suck it! #fuckdietculture

Some amazing stuff in Self's "The Weight Issue, Changing the conversation about weight and health". This is not the Self of the past! https://t.co/J85pRjpU9c
Bad body image day? This is a cultural problem given that some bodies are valued more than others. Not surprising it gets internalized, there are real rewards/punishments given to certain bodies. One healing step is recognizing the problem lies in an unjust culture, not you.
For at least some newly thin people, there’s a meta-dissatisfaction in feeling that significant weight loss has made life anything other than perfect https://t.co/KdpDRyFo0m
Food has no moral value - I know this ... I believe this, but when things get messy, I sometimes forget this. I keep telling myself, it’s progress, not perfection ... and food absolutely unequivocally has no moral value. #fuckdietculture#HAES#bodytrust
Thank you so much @DrRachelPorter for your amazing stream of tweets during #wsc6 ... I’ve learned so much as a result. This app is not only disgustingly abusive ... the whole mHealth industry around weight is deeply stigmatizing. Brilliant presentation by @DrEmmaRich - thank you! https://t.co/JLWmIhhkDS
JFC I missed the picture but @DrEmmaRich just showed us a slide with this “Carrot” “fitness” app that is straight up abusive, stigmatizing nightmares come to your phone. UGH. #WSC6
👙It’s BEACH BODY time!👙Here's the deal: There's only one way you do NOT have a beach body➡️When you don’t like the beach. Maybe you have a mountain body, library body, or cafe body. But if you DO like the beach?? Then you have a beach body. Boom. 🏝️🏖️via @ThreeBirdsCouns
@FoodPsychPod @chr1styharrison What a delightful and informative episode! I appreciated hearing about the history of #HAES and all the inspiring work Joanne and others have done to bring our struggles to light. I am equally excited about your forthcoming book! #dietculture
