We couldn’t be more proud of our Valley Boys! They did something no baseball team has done in our long, rich history! What a season fellas!! @SumnerBaseball
How do you behave at high school athletic events?
Is it always …
🤝 Respectful?
👏 Encouraging?
👊 Supportive?
Your behavior says a lot about your CHARACTER. And everyone is watching 👀
Let’s all #BenchBadBehavior! https://t.co/rYqRd0CW4s
From the day he was hired, Matt has taken this program on a trajectory of consistent improvement. High standards, kid based, strong relational skill set, and one of the most solid technical guys around. We knew he was gonna earn this award, as the program earned their success!
Coach Gibson with Former Steilacoom Boys Basketball coach, Gary Wusterbarth. Both coaches are Washington State Hall of Fame coaches and John Wooden Legacy Award winners for Washington. Over 1,000 wins between the two coaches!
Reflecting this morning with gratitude on all of the individuals who help make high school sports happen. Coaches, Officials, Bus Drivers, Admin, Bookkeepers, Secretaries, Athletic Trainers, ADs, Managers, WIAA, Reporters, Photographers, Parents…it takes a village! Thank you!!

Our #FutureReady strategic plan commits to a district culture of fair and inclusive practices, where each student receives equitable access to the opportunities, resources and supports to succeed and thrive. SBLSD Equity Director Josh Agpalza shares what equity looks like to him.
John Anderson… one of Sumner’s greatest citizens and servant leaders - influential and inspirational teacher, coach, athletic director, Rotarian, and community icon… John was simply a wonderful human being.

Thanks to WIAA leader Mick Hoffman for the important reminder of the purpose behind education based athletic programs. As a fan, coach, or parent- being a role model of respect and positive support is the most important lesson you can help teach our student/athletes.
Celebration of life for John Anderson on Saturday, October 1st (1:00 pm) at the Swiss Park in Bonney Lake and a memorial service on Sunday, October 2nd (2:00) at Mt. View Lutheran Church in Edgewood.
That admiration went both ways! @BainesJeff and @Talltim57 were following in John Anderson’s footsteps. His inspiration, character, humble servant leadership, and role modeling were his legacy. Jeff, you made him proud!
