A man once asked Muḥammad ibn Wāsiʿ,
“Advise me.”

He replied,
“I advise you to be a king in this world and in the Hereafter.”

The man asked,
“How?”

He said,
“Have Zuhd in this world.”

Real kingship isn’t about what you own, but what your heart is free from.

The Salaf were so particular with upholding each hadith they learnt, and would sacrifice their comfort to relay 1 Hadīth.

Hadhrat A'mash (RH) would sit under the scorching sun and rub his eyes until he remembered 1 single Hadīth.

The Night Devotion of al-Awzāʿī

Imām Al-Awzāʿī would spend the night in prayer, recitation of the Qurʾān, and weeping.
Al-Awzāʿī's mother would enter his room to check the spot where he would pray, and she would find it damp from his tears during the night!

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑶𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝑻𝒘𝒐 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑩𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒕

وقال ميمون بن مهران: لا خير في الحياة إلا لتائب، أو لرجل يعمل في الدرجات
Maymūn ibn Mihrān once said:
There is no good in life except for a repentant person, or for a man who strives to rise in ranks.

فهذا يزيد حسناته والأوّل يمحو سيئاته،
فما عدا هذين الرجلين فلا خير لهما في الحياة.
The former increases his good deeds, and the latter wipes away his sins.
Apart from these two men, life holds no benefit for anyone else.
