Why does Hobart and surrounds have such woefully insufficient public transport? Both routes and timetables need huge increase to make connect suburbs to the city and to make public transport useful and accessible. Thoughts?
We all must have a voice, to have true representation for those issues that impact our lives, to be empowered over the outcome of our own lives. Politics, it matters. The staus quo is not fair. We have to keep working for change.

Do we hate own people? Or is it just a power war?
Where is our sense of mateship?
How do we build a sense of belonging when power seems to hate people.
I am repeatedly aghast by the actions we take against our own fellow citizens.
Great to see this get a mention from @AmyRemeikis on #Insiders:
"We're still going to have Work for the Dole. We're still going to have the private Workforce providers receiving billions of dollars, and you can imagine there's a huge section of the community upset about that"
A lot of disingenuous folks get fired up about squatting saying “it’s dangerous coz there could be mould or asbestos” like we aren’t already paying for the privilege of living in an asbestos and mould ridden private rental. (Old photos of an actual rental ad)
I’ve been to abandoned homes in far better condition than some private rentals.
Largely gone under the radar, but government quietly confirmed yesterday that they will:
-Keep Work for the Dole
-Continue to outsource billions to private providers (despite almost 40% currently failing basic standards)
-Keep suspending hundreds of thousands of ppl's payments
New statement from @CPSUnion calls on the government to "move away from the current failing employment services system and to immediately suspend mutual obligations" https://t.co/uJ9yuFO6wR
It is devastating to have such an impact to Tasmanian families yet... how can we act surprised? We know funding models: fail to support NFP organisation administration & that short term, project based funding is insufficient #Change We need to prioritise social health & wellbeing
🧵 1 So yesterday I was contacted by a number of Autism Tas staff members. They devastated by the loss of their jobs, but they are more devastated by the fact AT is no longer providing services and support to autistic Tasmanian’s and their families. #politas
Beyond disturbing there are reports AYDC rapist offenders are still on govt. payroll: "Every single press release on the TasPol website about targeting youth offenders needs to be taken down and replaced with targeting the adults who raped them, who remain employed to this day"
To everyone seeking comment from me about the AYDC class action settlement, I’m taking a moment to be present with the survivors, with my family and my self. I am processing - and feel a lot of things. I would like to share those thoughts when they are fully formed.
For now, I want to focus on
A) holding space for and spending time talking with the survivors and all the incredible ppl who are fighting tirelessly for them, including of course, their legal team who must be exhausted 🙏. My heart, is and will always be with the victims. I know them, I admire them and I stand by them - first and foremost.
B) Ensuring the centre closes with urgency and that the state stops paying the abusers heavily featured in this class action.
For now - I’ll say this.
Every single press release on the TasPol website about targeting youth offenders needs to be taken down and replaced with targeting the adults who raped them, who remain employed to this day. Your priorities are deeply disturbing. I look forward to the @jeremyrockliff apologising to these tortured survivors, for the almost unimaginable horror that they have survived - against all odds.
What continues to occur, is depraved and unforgivable. A lot of people know who the abusers are, and who is still on staff. The burden of fixing this, is not mine, nor the survivors to carry. But it will be. It always is @RockliffTeam
With the utmost respect; compassion and near unbearable grief for all AYDC survivors both past and present, those there right now. I hope you feel believed, heard, and supported in this historic moment ❤️🙏

Mr Dutton has chosen Callide in Central Queensland as one of his putative 'locations' to build Federal Government nuclear power stations. Since I personally designed a number of the surface facilities on this site, thought you might be interested in a run-through.
"higher interest rates... mean that (people with savings) actually have more disposable income...data shows people over 65 spending.. above the inflation rate...on entertainment & travel. Spending on cruises up 55 per cent..travel bookings soared by 34%"

The United States has rapid-build modular homes or "trailers". Poor quality built subdivisions "trailer parks". Designed to house an economic sub-set, they segregate lower socio-economic minorities into modern day ghettos. A rubbish idea. We deserve hempcrete and solar, not trash
I often ponder the challenges of justice, democracy, equal rights inclusion and a "fair go".
Australia ranks poorly in measures of equality, not only amongst other weathy nations but also in comparison to poorer counterparts that we would typically consider "less democratic"
Why?
"The problem is so many of our democratic problems have been dressed up as economic problems."
"When powerful people want submarines, apparently we can afford them."
"Increase unemployment benefits? Not so much."

Privatising the plight of the poor - one of Australia's large wealth generators for the elite & a humiliating, abusive system for those who rely on the pathway to employment or a gateway to social services. we vmcan do better, but our leaders have to care enough to press 4 change
“The volume of sanctions for non-compliance with mutual obligations is simply out of control. Jobseekers are frequently subject to significant and disproportionate compliance action which can be damaging to physical and mental health” 7/8
as a future policy expert on housing and intersectionality here's an observation, with avocado exports set to increase maybe there will be more housing for the homeless 🤷
