Kyrgyzstan is expanding its investment partnerships, and Cambodia may be next on the map. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has invited Cambodian business to take part in the country’s investment projects, highlighting opportunities offered by Tamchy SFIT.
The talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, which took place on the sidelines of the CICA summit in Baku, also covered trade and tourism.
Tamchy SFIT offers international companies English common law, a zero-percent tax rate for 49 years and full repatriation of profits. That creates a stable and predictable environment for businesses looking to expand into the fast-growing markets of Central Asia.

Kyrgyzstan's president has highlighted Tamchy SFIT as a key project in advancing the country's 5-year economic priorities at a government meeting on 21 October.
President Sadyr Japarov cited the launch of Tamchy SFIT as an important step in developing digital infrastructure and simplifying transactions to support the growth of Kyrgyzstan’s international trade and investment.
He also outlined Kyrgyzstan’s broader strategic policy aims. Key priorities included:
– supporting business and export-oriented companies
– promoting digitalisation and regional development
– strengthening the protection of entrepreneurs’ and investors’ rights
– developing tourism, including business tourism, and the services sector
Set on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul, Tamchy SFIT is a financial jurisdiction based on English common law, with an independent dispute resolution centre and a 0% tax rate for 49 years.
Tamchy is building an ecosystem for next-generation businesses around the world, unlocking Kyrgyzstan’s investment potential.

Youth is an economic resource.
Nearly half of Kyrgyzstan’s population is under the age of 25, making it one of the youngest populations in Central Asia.
Over the coming years, tens of thousands of young professionals, entrepreneurs, founders and innovators will enter the labour market.
For Kyrgyzstan’s economy, this demographic structure creates significant long-term potential:
– growing domestic demand as the number of economically active consumers increases;
– an expanding labour force and a new generation of skilled professionals;
– more young entrepreneurs and new ventures, both local and international;
– a growing talent base across a wide range of industries.
Tamchy SFIT is developing as a new financial ecosystem in Central Asia at the intersection of a young workforce, entrepreneurship and international investment.
It is designed to support and capitalise on the region’s long-term growth potential, aiming to host up to 4,000 resident companies, create 10,000 jobs and contribute $20 billion to the Kyrgyz economy by 2035.
For international businesses and investors, demographics matter. Investment follows not only infrastructure or financial incentives but also talent, market potential and the capacity to scale.
This is where human capital becomes an economic advantage.

One of Tamchy SFIT’s first residents Florian Ehrbar @oct_florian, CEO of @OnchainLabs in Switzerland, sees bank-grade rails — the payment, settlement and custody infrastructure built to banking standards — as crucial for further growth in DeFi.
On a @CoinFerenceX panel during @token2049 week in Singapore, he said start-ups can build this kind of infrastructure in jurisdictions like Tamchy SFIT, where regulators support innovation.
Kudos to Florian for sharing his perspective — and glad to see Tamchy residents as part of this important discussion.

Trade underpins investment, and the two countries have set a major ambition: to reach a target of USD 5 billion in bilateral trade, around three times the 2025 level of USD 1.6 billion.
Manufacturing is the largest destination for foreign capital in Kyrgyzstan, attracting 47.2% of total FDI in 2025. Turkish companies invest in this sector mainly across food and beverages, as well as rubber and plastic products.
Growing trade between the countries also depends on the routes that carry it, and the OTS Turkic World Vision 2040 sets out to make the Middle Corridor the fastest, safest and most cost-efficient route between Asia and Europe. For Kyrgyzstan, the gateway to this corridor will be the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway.
Bishkek is taking an active part in developing the agenda for the 13th OTS summit, to be held in Ankara on 29-30 October 2026.
Kyrgyzstan’s investment potential will be further supported by the launch of Tamchy SFIT, which is creating a new legal and regulatory jurisdiction for international projects and connecting global business to a fast-growing and progressively connected region. (3/3)

Türkiye rose to become the fourth-largest source of foreign direct investment in Kyrgyzstan last year, and the focus of its engagement is changing.
According to the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, Türkiye’s share of gross FDI inflows rose from 5.5% in 2024 to 9.1% in 2025, while overall FDI into Kyrgyzstan grew by 27.3% to USD 1.31 billion.
This growth builds on a broad business presence, with around 350 Turkish companies operating in Kyrgyzstan and accumulated Turkish investment exceeding USD 1.4 billion.
Development cooperation has supported the partnership for more than three decades: TİKA has carried out more than 1,000 projects in Kyrgyzstan worth USD 88 million from 1993 to October 2025.
Bilateral ties are moving from trade towards long-term projects in energy, industry and transport — the kinds of commitments that shape an economy for decades. (1/3)
Energy is where the partnership has produced its largest projects, and Kyrgyzstan’s geography explains why.
Mountains cover 94% of the country, and their fast-flowing rivers are well suited to generating electricity. Only around 15% of the country’s hydropower potential is in use today, which creates vast opportunities for long-term projects.
This potential has become the basis for the largest Turkish investments in the country. The largest of these projects is a landmark USD 6.2 billion agreement with Türkiye’s Orta Asya Investment Holding to build six hydropower plants across two cascades with a combined capacity of 2,217 MW.
The two cascades are developing in sequence. Construction of the 912 MW Kazarman cascade began in 2026 and is scheduled for completion by 2031. The 1,305 MW Suusamyr–Kokomeren cascade is at the feasibility study stage with financing from the Eurasian Development Bank.
When both cascades are in operation, the new hydropower plants are expected to increase Kyrgyzstan’s installed capacity by more than 50%. (2/3)
Tamchy SFIT has been ranked first in the Asia-Pacific region and second globally in the Rising Stars category of the Global Free Zones of the Year 2026 Awards by @fDiIntelligence , the @FT's foreign direct investment division.
That makes Tamchy SFIT the first financial territory in Central Asia to achieve these results.
Ayaz Baetov, First Deputy Chairman of Tamchy SFIT’s Management Council, called this recognition an important international endorsement of the project’s vision at this early stage of its development.
The judges praised Tamchy SFIT’s long-term strategy for attracting residents across its priority sectors. They also highlighted the jurisdiction’s extensive package of business incentives, including a zero corporate income tax rate for 49 years and unrestricted profit repatriation. (1/2)
Tamchy SFIT also offers resident companies:
— a legal framework based on English common law
— an independent financial regulator and an International Dispute Resolution Centre
— up to 100% foreign ownership
— fully digital single-window registration
The territory’s first Grade A business centre is already operating within walking distance of Issyk-Kul International Airport, and five more buildings are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
The first residents come from Switzerland, South Korea, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan and the UAE, with more than 30 other companies completing registration.
