When I think about the military (obscene budgets, drones killing civilians, not caring for vets, etc.), I get super pissed off. So I tried to reframe. We’ve already paid for their budget, we're not getting that money back. What’s something good we could ask them to do. Like this:
@ECMcLaughlin Non-profit means making money isn’t the stated top priority of the organization, it has nothing to do with whether or not they make money
@GoochLyssa@KREM2 So if he made $100k a year for the next 7 years he’d only pay $580 a year but that would help support others just like the young people now are paying into ss to help you… seems fair
That a family had to lose a son, brother and father; that a teenage girl had to film and post a murder, that millions across the country had to organize and march just for George Floyd to be seen and valued is not justice.
And this verdict is not a substitute for policy change.
Until someone can prove otherwise, I believe police are deliberately escalating violence & killing more frequently as a way to flex power right now.
@DanPriceSeattle Why don’t they talk about all the states with higher minimum wages, like WA? We’re at $13.69 right now. As an accountant I haven’t even seen any business owners profits go down since the increase, before covid they were making as much $ as they ever did.
@ewarren@chuckschumer Thank you so much! The $50k would make a huge difference for my daughter who had to take out student loans cause I was/am still paying off mine and can’t afford to help her pay for school!
