@sweetdoodmd There’s no way physicians should be given this level of authority. It’s incredible hubris to suggest it. The overturning of established DNRs is so rare, why be misleading. MDs aren’t willing to be accountable for their current lifesaving responsibilities, why add death?
@sweetdoodmd You’ll need to inform the oligopolies of this news. For a few decades now, MDs have created regional/national collective bargaining orgs, as have hospitals. This has resulted in commercial prices commonly being 300%-400% of Mcare. Capitalism is thriving in US HC.
@Sbharris11 @sweetdoodmd This isn’t accurate. In 2022, Mcare invested about $16000/beneficiary. Commercial spending for the <65 yo pop is about $6000. Although pricing is at least 150% higher for Commercial < 65 yo, consumption is much lower.
@ScholerinED @sweetdoodmd The problem is the lack of accountability for making mistakes. I mean accountability directly to the patient, not Twitter. It’s why you have malpractice insurance, to pay for the occasional mistake, not to have a carrier that will hide it.
@sweetdoodmd And, the most serious risk/outcome of the procedures you do, is exactly what I experienced. It’s such a coincidence i would happen upon your tweet. Have a good day.
@sweetdoodmd This is “close to home” for you in many different ways isn’t it? Not only are you down the street, you work downstream from GIs and rely on their referrals (and mistakes) for business. For this reason, I don’t think you’ll respond to my shared experience. I understand.
@sweetdoodmd For all we know, I may be his first 4.5 x 3.5 cm perf. Of course that doesn’t lessen the pain and suffering I went through. Of course he didn’t do it on purpose, but he sure as hell is acting like he did, isn’t he? Accountability is a huge issue, as is transparency.
@TheRealHoarse One holiday season, on a dare, I became a driver for @UPS. I was 55 yo, had a commercial route, and did the airport run every pm. I worked 70 hrs/wk, the first this was allowed. It was an awesome experience for a great company. I handled the same autographed football 3 times.
I’m not sure why, but I continue to be shocked that @Cigna and my TPA that rents its network continue to screw up every single transaction I have without exception. I’ve had $140,000 of transactions in four months. It has gotten something significant wrong on every $.
@mcuban Tomorrow, I’m having a colostomy reversal because a GI perforated my colon four months ago. He has never reached out to me since it happened. He has never acknowledged my suffering and even fought w/ me about refunding a credit balance afterward.
@ZJAyres I’m not positive it was misogyny, but I suspect it was. My complaints of abnormal/severe pain post-colonoscopy were minimized and I was discharged at Level 6. 3 days later: emergency colon resection, Hartmann’s loop and spent 2 weeks in ICU fighting sepsis…4 months ago.
@DrHarryThomas OMG, I thought the exact same thing this am. It’s been on my mind. My colon was perforated during a routine one in August. My reversal is coming up in a few weeks!
