I joined Twitter in 2011, when I was still at school. 15 years later, I’m using the same account to document what happened when I quit my job and left the UK to travel Southeast Asia.
I want to reread the same paragraph because it made me think.
I want to underline sentences.
I want to get completely lost in a story.
I want a book to take me three weeks if it takes me three weeks.
I don’t want an app to read my books for me.
Why are we optimising the things designed to help us slow down?
We’ve become so obsessed with efficiency that even our hobbies are being turned into something to optimise.
I keep getting ads for apps that read books for you.
An entire book condensed into 10 minutes.
And I know it’s supposed to save me time… but I don’t want to save time on this.
I don’t want to consume 50 books a year just so I can say I did.
I want to disappear into one for hours.

I took redundancy at the end of 2025, left my London life behind for full time travel.
Now almost a year into traveling I’m figuring out what’s next.

Instead of starting from 0, ask yourself:
1. What do I love about my life?
2. What are my current skills?
3. What sparks my interest the most?
4. What about my current life doesn’t serve me anymore?
5. What can I do today to start making those tweaks?

I love being productive, but I also really love doing absolutely nothing.
I love seeing my friends, but I also love my own company.
I love having a plan and being organised, but hate being the person who actually has to organise or plan it.
I love a routine, but get bored if every day looks the same.
I want to be spontaneous, but I also need to know what’s happening.
I can be incredibly motivated one week and completely horizontal the next.
