In addition to this, out of the 64 possible spots to participate in the playoff field since 2014, there have been only three teams who dropped out of the final playoff rankings after winning or not playing at all: 2014 TCU, 2023 FSU, and 2025 Notre Dame.

Dating back to 2014 when the CFP was created, 86 of 88 conf champ game losers were moved down in the rankings after. 2022 TCU and 2025 Alabama were the exception. 2022 TCU was 12-0 and stayed in 3rd place after a conf champ loss. That’s it. That’s the list. @JohnDBrice1

Rochester Adams has one of the highest median household incomes in the state. A handful of the best youth travel baseball teams in the state are within a 15-30 minute drive of the school. They have a top 5 mlb prospect in the country in their lineup.

Their coaches make more money than private school coaches, but we all want to change the system instead of putting the heat on the coaches to make them recruit the hot bed of athletes to prevent them from going to a private school. Reminder: no one is stopping public school coaches from recruiting their own athletes from leaving the district to drive 45 min to a private school everyday. Call a spade a spade.

Everyone wants to lower the bar to sweep the laziness under the rug. Adapt or die…or I guess get enough journalists to lobby on their behalf.

In 8 team sports this year, private school teams combined to win 68.2% (572-267) of their MHSAA tournament games against public school opponents and 47.1% of the state championships. And that happened despite private schools making up less than 12% of the overall participants.

The MHSAA will be inundated with complaints over the next few weeks. The question is…will they respond responsibly and consider all of the options to fix the problem? Or will they continue to sweep it under the rug? Stay tuned...
