@afkostka @editti22 What’s devastating isn’t the trade…. It’s how he underachieved. He didn’t pan out. After his first two seasons… he fell off. Injured, average performance. That’s the shame in this. Trading him, especially for that return, was a NO BRAINER

@JoshGoDucks @jcalvinmeyer Absolutely right. The romanticizing is crazy. He was so good for two years but hasn’t been the same since the first half of 2024. I think he deals with nagging injuries, and can’t play thru it. The trade was a no brainer, even more so w the return they got back.

@editti22 A lot of fans glossing over the fact that Adley has only been slightly above average at best since mid 2024.The injuries are kind of piling up. He had a monster April, since then? Banged up. And doesn’t have the bat to full time DH. The haul we got for him is legitimately insane

2) why do our prospects consistently underachieve? THAT imo is the #1 question.
3) Adley is being a little over romanticized by the fanbase. He hasn’t been that great for 2.5 years now. Injuries starting to set in.
4) we are tired of losing.

@SleeperOrioles Why? The have plenty of firepower to go out and add talent this offseason. Which they’ve done before with the Baz, Burnes, Ward, Blaze, etc trades. All good trades that the fans also threw a bitch fit over.

But yes, when you are constantly SELLING like the Os, you forfeit the main value that prospects carry and this is their ability to be used as a trade chip to acquire actual proven talent. Love what the Jays did in acquiring Rosario.

@SleeperOrioles Totally true. This Org has gotta stop falling in love w these prospects. How many have we seen make it to AAA and just rot away unused? Mayo shouldve been traded. Countless others. If they don’t trade for proven talent this offseason then who gives AF.

@EutawStReport BINGO. They are accumulating way too many mid prospects. They have to make room for about 10-12 guys this offseason. Then again the year after that. Another reason why selling at the deadline for scraps is dumb. Really just a salary dump.

@jcalvinmeyer Yep, and eventually, there is such a thing as TOO MUCH selling. TOO MUCH accumulation of mid prospects. Prospects value lies in the ability to DUMP them for established ML talent. 90% + of these “prospects” either don’t make the bigs or they will make it and hurt the team.

@OriolesStatist1 A horrific return. Ward has been good. I get he’s a rental, but wtf? Other contending teams couldn’t beat this?? This is basically a salary dump. None of those guys are top 30 in Seattle org. MUCH better to be buying than selling. That’s insane.
