God sends small children into the world to expose men. you think you are holy until a three year old throws a bowl of cereal at the wall for the third time. you think you are patient until you have not slept for five nights straight, and the baby is still screaming. every half man, is found out by his own offspring. children are judges, sent in miniature to read your verdict out loud. God could have judged us from the throne. instead, he sent us toddlers. more effective
I don’t understand why anybody wants to dye their gray hair and hide it. Gray hair is proof of life, proof of survival, proof of stories that will both disgust and awe younger individuals.
Breastfeeding is one part of motherhood nobody really explains properly 😩
First, your nipples can peel like they’re going through renovation 😭 and you’re still expected to let your baby feed like nothing is happening.
Then when your baby finally latches, you feel this sharp rush of pain because your womb is also contracting at the same time 😭
Honestly… this motherhood journey is not a small thing 😂
It’s beautiful, but the struggle is very real 😩
Mothers, what shocked you the most after giving birth?
Marijuana use by the FATHER now linked to miscarriage. If the father smokes pot just once a week, his wife’s miscarriage rate DOUBLES. But tell me more how weed just makes you “chill.”
The research behind this is wild. Your sperm carries a set of instructions that tell your genes when to turn on and off. A Duke University study found that THC rewrites those instructions. The more weed in your system, the bigger the changes. It goes straight for the genes your future embryo needs in its first week of life.
I had to read the "day 3 crash" part twice. For the first three days after fertilization, an embryo runs entirely on the mother's DNA. Day 3, the father's genes switch on. If those genes carry cannabis damage, the embryo just stops growing. Fertility doctors see this happen in their labs: embryos that fertilized fine and looked healthy on day 2 go completely still by day 5.
Boston University tracked 1,535 couples trying to have a baby. Men who smoked weed once a week or more doubled their partner's miscarriage risk. That number held up even when the woman herself never touched cannabis. And the miscarriages clustered in the first 8 weeks, right when the father's damaged DNA would be doing the most harm.
Duke also found that the specific genes THC alters in sperm overlap with genes linked to autism. One of those genes, called DLGAP2, helps brain cells communicate with each other. It was changed in cannabis users' sperm. When researchers bred THC-exposed male rats and checked their offspring, the same altered gene pattern showed up in the pups' brains. The damage crossed a generation.
Weed has gotten way stronger over the last 30 years. THC content was about 4% in the 1990s but nearly quadrupled to 15% by 2018, and modern dispensary strains regularly sit at 20-30%. Concentrates go up to 95%.
Quitting for about 11 weeks (one full cycle of sperm production) reverses some of the DNA changes. Not all of them. Duke's lead researcher says men should stop at least 6 months before trying for a baby. Half of your kid's genetic blueprint comes from you, and right now, THC is editing that blueprint before conception even happens.
This is what we call unnecessary hate.
Our guy, the comedian Onjiri, is trending not because of the funny skits he does with his wife Salet, but because a so-called friend has decided to call him out. Before he started doing skits with Salet, Onjiri used to be a heavy drinker. But later on, he had a moment of realization and decided to quit alcohol after seeing how it was destroying people, even though it hadn't finished him yet.Apparently, his decision to stop drinking didn't sit well with his friend — the same one who couldn't quit alcohol himself. Now the guy is super bitter on social media. Whenever he sees Onjiri in an interview talking about how he quit drinking, this friend gets triggered and starts saying things like, "He's not even the first person to quit!" Onjiri, you're doing just fine. That milestone of quitting alcohol is clearly hurting your friend. Keep going and hurt him even more!
I read this 2 nights ago and although I agree with the key message, point number 3 has been bothering me.
I don't know how to explain it well but as much as pregnancy is hard and life threatening, surrogacy doesn't feel like privilege but theft.
I remember the first time I was pregnant, I knew before I did any test. I felt it, not in my body but in my heart. My heart felt warm and calm and full, like I needed no one else in this world. My whole world was inside me. And in the next 9 months, I grew and knew this person living inside me. I was walking around with 2 heart beats.
I wouldn't want to not experience that, or any woman to be told that pregnancy does not have its beauty.
I wouldn't want the world to go to a place where women are no longer baring children in the name of advancement.
But strangely I feel like we might just get there.
not just enjoyed,
but honored,
respected,
devoured,
considered,
prayed for,
favored,
remembered,
prioritized,
preferred,
assured,
validated,
comforted,
nurtured,
catered to,
protected,
rallied for,
supported,
cared for,
looked after,
and loved.
fully, proudly, gladly, loved.
I'd like to request all ladies not to carry the following three "behaviors" into April:
1. Sending paragraphs to adults of sound mind. If you get to the point where you have to type a paragraph, it's usually because the person doesn't care. They know.
2. Giving, expecting to be given. "Lend, expecting nothing in return." (Luke 6:35.) If you can't give it, don't lend it.
3. Keeping our contact lists clogged because "nobody knows tomorrow". If you delete the number, will you know tomorrow? Let go of fake and phony "friends".
4. Ignoring signs that people hate us. One lady kept repeating, "I used to hate you so much!" Turned out she still did. If someone used to hate you, ask them what changed. Why do they love you now? You'll find that they're still snakes.
(Screenshot is not me; found it here and I've forgotten the @)
Trying to imagine what Jesus was feeling on a day like this about 2000 years ago.
When we were in boarding school, we did "Next week at this time", especially as holidays approached.
"Next week at this time, we'll be watching TV..."
I wonder if Jesus did the same. "Next week at this time, I'll be walking with Cleopas and [Name] to Emmaus...
"Next week at this time, Philip will understand."
"Next week at this time, it will be finished."
Hebrews 12 says, "For the joy that was set before Him, He endured the cross."
We are the joy that was set before Him.
He endured the cross for you 🫵🏾. And for me.
I love this God so much.
I was talking to a chap who is on a one year separation journey jana & we were laughing about how co-dependent men never believe a man can walk away from a woman or that you can want to be single cos you have purpose, you’ve locked in & it doesn’t involve womanizing or drug + alcohol abuse.
Anyway, in summary we both agreed it’s easier to reconcile with an industrious woman who is respectful even when she is angry cos that grace you get leaves the space you need to think about your own 🐂💩 & be honest about your role in the problems in your own life. When kids are involved you prioritize your peace for yourself then for them because they always need direction & stability.
It’s the most grownup chat I’ve had this year.
Social media becomes less attractive as you get older because the more that you begin to understand yourself as a person, the more you understand that performing for others is not a requirement.
