The Secret Service released a statement related to the shooting near the White House. The White House has reportedly been placed on lockdown.
“U.S. Secret Service personnel are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting at 15th Street and Independence Avenue in Washington, D.C. One individual was shot by law enforcement; their condition is currently unknown. Please avoid the area as emergency crews are responding.”
The Supreme Court issued an administrative stay on an appeals court ruling that had temporarily blocked mail-order distribution of mifepristone, a drug used to induce abortions. The order puts the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals decision on hold until May 11.
