On Tuesday, I stood before more than 17,000 delegates from over 200 countries and geographic areas in Hong Kong and was elected to the Board of Directors of Lions Clubs International.

For those outside of Lions, it’s difficult to explain what that means.

Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service organization, with more than 1.4 million members. Its International Board helps guide the direction, strategy, and governance of an organization that serves millions of people every year through humanitarian projects in communities around the globe.

It is one of the highest leadership positions a Lion can be entrusted with, and it is an honor I will never take for granted.

What made the moment even more surreal was that, on that very same day, another dream was unfolding.

For the past 3 years I’ve been building a multimedia science fiction franchise known as Dischordia where music is an essential part of the narrative world building. The music and albums I’ve released as a part of the @MalkiaUkweli & the Panopticon have continued their international growth. Over the past year, listeners from around the world have helped us reach 227,825 streams and 101,491 listeners, while our newest album, West By God, has already generated 49,659 streams, 33,086 listeners, 28,502 saves, and 17,355 playlist adds.

To most people, those accomplishments probably seem unrelated.

One is global service.

The other is music.

But at @dgrs_labs, we’ve always believed they’re connected by the same principle:

Stories change the world.

Whether we’re building AI-powered storytelling platforms, creating music, or helping lead one of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations, the goal is the same:

Inspire people to imagine a better future—and then give them the tools to build it.

Standing on that stage in Hong Kong, while seeing our music connect with listeners around the world, reminded me that leadership and creativity aren’t separate paths.

They’re simply different ways of telling stories that matter.

I’m grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey. The next chapter is just beginning.
