Today @nytimes ran the words, “If the FIRE women have a matriarch, it’s Tanja Hester, 39, who retired from her job as a political consultant at 38. She wrote a book about her experience, ‘Work Optional,’” and I am officially deceased. https://t.co/l6DccyaO0x by @CharlotteCowles
Writing a blog with open comments for many years, writing for Marketwatch, and writing two books are apparently really good ways to grow a thicker skin.
On this 3rd of September, here's a hifi version of The Temptations' incredible Papa Was a Rolling Stone on @tidal.

It's a great day to practice a little wallet activism and reconsider how you stream your music and what that means for artist $. 🧵...
Maybe while people are trapped at Burning Man is a good time to share some of the disturbingly capitalist hellscape stuff I witness each year from the supposedly non-consumption-based event.
Short 🧵 from a Tahoe local/Reno shopper who has seen some things…
On the invented “Prime Day,” it’s a great time to review the 4 Qs I offer to make ethical financial decisions in Wallet Activism, especially:
Is it too cheap?
… for the people who made it to have been fairly paid? … for it to be made sustainably?
Let the answer guide you. 💜

In addition to being hygiene theater and bad environmentally, turns out many wipes also harm us.

I just bought this book and am eager to start reading. (I tried the library, but was 443rd on the hold list, which at least means there is a lot of interest in learning about American poverty, a good and necessary thing.)
I'm excited to share that I'll be speaking at the inaugural @finconexpo women's event, west coast edition (there's also a great east coast edition), for writers, journalists and content creators. Is the event for you? Learn more at https://t.co/agi09K4wKF

Glad I got my last Evusheld 💉10 days ago. 😂 (We knew it was mostly worthless but said why not.)

This snow is all in our yard. But hard to forget just last year when we had a record snowpack in January followed by no snow the rest of the season, and drought continued. Still, I never complain about precipitation in any form. Very happy to be buried.
Right about this time on this day five years ago, I was wrapping up the final tasks on my final day of employment.
The last five years have not been what I expected, largely thanks to the pandemic, but I am so grateful for all the stars that aligned to make this life possible.
I know it’s cool to say you won’t miss Twitter, but I will. I already miss it, and hope that it survives this maelstrom. That actually means I miss the people who used to be more active here.
Anyway, I’m still here, and if you are too, say hi.
